you could very well have lyme. tests are often inconclusive on this one. don't forget to have your thyroid tested. i have hypo and some of your symptoms match. just to rule it out. lupus as well.
i have lyme and i developed some really scary heart issues. get checked and realized that if you test negative for everything, it may still be lyme. my first tests didn't confirm. it was more clinical diagnosis and my significant improvement on abx that cinched it for my doctor.
Im not sure about the other symptoms, but if you get cold hands and feet alot you may have Raynaud's phenomenon, which I have. You often get cold extremeties (hands, feet, ears). Are they discoloured? Either way, it might be worth looking up.
I'm going to echo what tory said, but also add that a good site to read about Lyme disease and it's co-infections is www.canlyme.org
Finding a doctor who knows about Lyme is very important.
And kudos to you for taking the initiative.
Please check back with us, O.K.?
Hi and welcome to this new group:
I happened to see your same thread on the MS forum..and I'm so glad you decided to post here.
I'm not a doctor only a patient that was diagnosed with MS for years before finding it's really Lyme disease and the co-infections that go with this infection.
There is much research on the connection between Lyme and MS. The symptoms of these 2 diseases are very similar; and quite frankly with my symptoms, I can't tell the difference between the two.
I would suggest you post this very question along with your symptoms on lymenet.org. It's a lyme info site that has lots of information on the correct testing for LD, and finding the right doctor.
for 15, you're a smart cookie to be looking for answers.
Stiff neck, muscle twitching, cold hands and feet, chest pains, dizziness, fatigue are all common symptoms of Lyme.
I just watched another Medical Mystery of a man in NJ that was so sick and for months no doctors including Neuros, Cardiologists, Rhematologists, etc could diagnosis. It's must be in your head, all tests are negative; including lyme tests! . Months of suffering later, he found a lyme doctor, was re-tested and sure enough it was LD. He's was in treatment for 1.5yrs and has his life back. Many of us do test negative for Lyme when doctors use a commercial lab and the ELISA test. There's so much to understand regarding the unreliable testing and then treatment for lyme.
Imo, your symptoms are common lyme symptoms. Symptoms to come and go, btw, and if you never remember a tick bite or rash that too is common.
I hope you read all you can on this politically charged disease; and find a Lyme Literate Doctor, a specialist in the treatment of Tick-Borne Illnesses; who can offer you the best testing and diagnosis to either rule Lyme in or rule Lyme out.
keep in touch,
tory
