Good to know about the Bart FISH test. I believe it is the antibody tests that have a more narrow focus. From what I understand, the problem with the FISH test is that it is more likely to be false negative than the antibody test.
My b.henselae antibody test was "not negative" according to IGeneX. It means that I had a response, but not a strong enough response to appear "positive" by most labs. I would have been called "negative" at my local lab. My PA said they considered it a positive.
My Bart FISH test was negative.
I think IGeneX has a b.quintana test. I know there are other labs that offer it, too.
hey rico, the FISH for Bart test all of the types...sooooo
IDK
if i do not get better soon i will re test..
and hubby got 2 pills..
IDK
gotta tic check the dog again as found a tick on the floor near her bed.
we just gave her a bath. and use the flea tick stuff regularly.
He needs more than 2 doxy pills, at least 30 days. If he had lyme before, then he always has it. Also, he is now more attractive to ticks, must protect himself always when going outdoors. I have been reinfected several times since my original diagnosis.
I believe so. There are permethrin treated clothes, too, such as socks and shirts.
Sorry you're still hurtin. :(
Your leg and long bone pain sounds like it could be Bartonella Quintana. Did you get tested for Bart already? If so, it was probably a b.henselae test, as b.henselae is the more common species to make us sick. You might consider getting a b.quintana test, too. B.quintana is the cause of what they called Trench Fever in WWI and WWII. They also called it "Shin bone fever" due to the leg pain. It can be nasty.
oh isn't permethrin in the shampoo for lice?
thanks rico good idea.
his PCP gave him 2 doxy pills. the bump was swollen, red like a nickel but after a bath and some alcohol looked better. no bulls eye yet.
poor man had lyme last july . rash flue he recovered well with 1 month doxy.
certainly does not need it again. lets cross our fingers the tick did not spit into him, and was just sucking!
last year it burst when he removed it and i think it spewed , threw up into him...that is why removal should be done quick and careful.
sneek up on them and get it hard and fast in one good yank!
i am up late in bad pain. my legs and long bones and ankles hurt so bad. my knees feel hot to touch but are not red or swollen.
been a week off that tenofovir.. IDK. it may not be that..
why did i feel so good ont he ceftin? doc will not answer me.
i see a PCP soon who is supposed to be good and takes my insurance and may refer me to a rheumy or neuro as my ID doc has not done so.
i just feel like my bones and muscles are corroding if that makes sense..
I hope his prophylactic dose wasn't the single dose recommended by Wormser. There is no proof whatsoever it is sufficient. ILADS docs say they have patients who had the single dose and still got Lyme.
I saw a picture once of permethrin treated gators. They just slip on over the shoes and pants are are supposedly very effective. Permethrin is better than Deet. It doesn't just repel them, it kills them. Some sporting goods stores carry them. (I don't remember the name of the brand.)
If they were kept stuffed inside his outdoor shoes or boots or left hanging right by the door, they'd be easy to remember.
I haven't been faced with the doxy/no doxy dilemma, but yeah, I certainly consider doing the doxy for a couple of weeks.
