Well i will be sitting on my steps watching the neighbors have fireworks! Turns out the family decided to go the lake EARLY and my DH couldnt get off work till 5 on Friday so that means were jacked AGAIN which blows i wanted to go so bad!! But oh well i will have my wine and the neighbors will shoot off fireworks LOL!
taking my boys to the state park fishing ( they do the worms yuck) and for a day of well deserved fun.
I have a few fountains and small sparklers, etc...and plan to light them off in the sidewalk. I hope to invite a friend over to see them, if not then it will be me grandma and I watching our little fireworks show. We did something like that last July, but my dad was able to come over, which made it special. This year he can't come. Hopefully we will enjoy it the same as long as it doesn't choose to rain that day.
I have a brother in law like that too....that might keep me from the lake....he'll start drinking tomorrow night and will be a walking, obnoxious moron thru Sunday. He's ruined it for a huge part of my family too. Staying away from those folks will make life more fun...so I say you go to his parents and I'll just hang with the crowd in town....Life is only complicated when we make it that way and we got stuff to do....So be off with you complicated people...(this with grand gestures....daddy always said if they'd tie my hands, I wouldn't be able to talk)
We're going to go play this weekend....
We could go to larger towns for the 4th, but for a little town, we do the 4th BIG.
So we'll have the parade at 1 and from then on til midnight this town will be hopping.
There are kids games and contests at the park, the will food available all day, a beer garden, firehose fight, there will be a band in the evening, then I will come home for the fire works...put my chair in the back yard and look up...they set the fire works off right across the road from my field. We have an excellent view. And it's illegal in Iowa to have fireworks...so there won't be any sneaking across the border to Missouri on gravel and dirt roads to pick up any black cats or other things that go bang in the night....really...honest....
I may sneak over to the local lake around noonish as there is a barbe going on over there too, with all the fixins....I don't see myself losing any weight this weekend....
i'm not sure what we're doing yet. pittsburgh is having the annual regatta from the 2-10 and fireworks on the 4th like usual but we may go to gregs parents for a cook out and fireworks in his hometown OR go to my mothers for a cookout. i'm leaning towards his parents i don't feel like dealing with a drunk step father this weekend....
We're going in to town to see the fireworks. I'm looking forward to doing something fun. It's been awhile. Its always fun with a little one too, and my son is looking forward to seeing the fireworks.
Pip, I wanna come to your house! Sounds good!
We will be having a block party on our street. It dead ends on the water, and we will start the grill, put up a tent, all bring a dish, we have invested in fireworks. We did this last year and burnt the tent down. Luckily one of my neighbors is a fireman. lol
Oh Wow I have written that down so I can do it substituting the pork for chicken , as I dont eat anything bigger than a bird. However I do not object to others eating it, so lets BARBY.....I never had a red cabbage Kraut ....
May this coming Independence Day (in the US) be a time of quiet reflection on just what the day means, and a noisy one of joy celebrating what the day means.
Pip - who will be off for the weekend and BBQing pork chops marinated in a mix of white wine, grated onion, crushed garlic and sweet paprika. To be served with red cabbage kraut, maple-sugar baked beans and roasted sweet corn.
How about Frank Sinatra's "THAT'S AMERICA TO ME", does it count? wink
America the Beautiful --- I remember how proud I was to sing that in 3rd grade chorus show ... now, please don't ask me how many yrs ago that was ..... hee hee
C~
Well George Washington celebrated this day in 1778 by ordering a double ration of Rum for all, sounds like a good idea ....Hey guys whilst I am here whats your favorite Patriotic song.... I love Yankee doodle, and of course like everyone I tear up at the Star Spangled Banner.
I would like to spend time reflecting how precious our freedom means...and thank those who sacraficed/sacraficing to keep us free.
Happy 4th July!!!
Parade Downtown, Barby in the afternoon . fireworks at night , feeling very Patriotic this year... flags everywhere
I'm going over a friends house with my family and hopefully watch the fireworks if it doesn't rain in NH.
