Swear words

Well what do you think about the use of bad language, I have noticed recently that there is a lot of F.....ing going on, I dont remember it being this bad in the US. The Brits have always used the olde English ones but it seems to be the Big ones now and in every sentence here. Both genders and in front of children, and hey guys I dont mix, much, with the riff raff this is educated persons.

I use it here and there, not infront of children or even older people.  I do think it is becoming more casual now.  I know my grandparents were of the generation where you dont speak like that infront of women and now women are just as bad as men.  That "law" is out the window and I think as we grow older you will see cursing become more of the norm.  My family is very conservative and I always thought I would be too, but my grandfather made a statement not long ago saying that he is glad that he is old and is going to die before he sees too much more change for the worse.  I never want to think like that.  Not that I want to curse more, but I hope that I can become more tolerable of things that are changing like this.  I will tell you that the one thing I cant stand is a group of young teens having horrible potty mouths in family environments such as carnivals or the mall.  I take my son and other children there for a nice family night once a year and it is full of kids out for the night with out parents acting like...well you fill that in.

When I said  """"uneducated"""" meaning someone who uses it in every other sentence..as an adverb...adjective...noun...pronoun...everyone has there way of speaking..but voicing my opinion shouldnt mean bash mirabella for saying uneducated.

Would never use the word in church....My grandmother uses the word often..which is amazing seeing as though we were SLAPPED ...beaten severly  if cr@p came from our mouths.  Must be double standards.

Sure anger can bring out the best in everyone.

Using God's name in vain:  When I was 5 years old I said the GD word and my parents made me put soap in my mouth. It was awful!  I hated it.

Weeks later I heard my dad say the GD word. I demanded he put soap in his mouth for saying that word. He did. I can't remember if I caught my mom or not, but I think some time after my parents gave up with the soap in mouth thing.

After all if I wasn't allowed to swear, then NO one was allowed to swear in our house.

It's hard to not swear when you are around people that do it. It's like taking on someones mannerisms or accent, you don't mean to do it but when you are around it for an extended period of time you can't help it.
I work in a bar/restaurant and I hear quite a bit of profanities so while I am at work talking to my friends or the regulars I do occasionally swear but I never swear in front of my customers.

And I have also noticed it is copied behavior if my husband spends the day at work with a load of "navvie' types he comes home using the same language of F... if I get on his case he does it more.

The kids use profanity as part of their everyday life -- talking, texting, eating, living, breathing -- the sad part is when it comes to a place (like working around kids, etc.) where it's vital not to use the words, it's difficult for them to undo that which is part of their mindset.

Use profanity in the high school and get caught:  Sat AM 2 hr. Detention.

In my mind I swear a lot and while driving. It sounds funny and harmless to me in English as a different language but awful if it were in my mother tongue... However, I keep a lid on this and have an agreement with my six-year-old to only use substitute words. It is hard to raise a child in this environment. You teach them the good and the bad, they obey - and then they come to your workplace and your own boss can not talk without the F word in every sentence.

I don't like the use of foul language; but I sometimes swear out of pure frustration. I don't do it when there are people around me. Like I talk to myself and I tell myself all those long, dark thoughts made up of the F word just to vent. The only person who really hears me cursing is my hubby and he hates it.  The use of improper language isn’t allowed at my workplace, so I keep myself from cursing although I do swear in my head when I’m stressed or frustrated at work.

Yes, it has become very common nowadays. Even young kids make use of these words, and I'm referring to kids 1-2 years old.

The F word is for Filth. I curse when im really mad. but sometimes it slips. When you use it all the time, in every other sentence or word it sounds trashy. You can find other words to use like OH FUDGE. OR OH SUGAR. lol but whos really going to come out and say OHH Fudge.... noone!  The F word is more natural.....I hate that these words exist. But they can represent other things Like number 2 and knockin boots. LMFAO.....OOPS I MEAN LMAO, OOOPS I mean LMBO (Laugh my BUTT off) ha haaaa haahahaah

I admit that I also have a "potty mouth" My mom always told me I talked like a sailor. But I too know when to keep my potty mouth shut.
But the one word that I never use and absolutely HATE, is the C word in reference to a girl you are really mad at. I can about deal with anything else besides that.

I also agree that is never OK to use the Lord's name in vein. My sister and I always joke, why is it OK to use Jesus' name in vein and not any other "gods" name in vein. So we always say "Oh buddah" or "Oh ala"
Sorry if I offended anyone, it's just a joke.

I do use profanities here and there but I don't consider myself to be uneducated, I know when it is OK to use bad language and I know when to turn it off. It's like I have a switch in my head that turns off the profanities when I am in certain places. I never swear in front of my son.
I do however think that people need to teach their children that sometime adults use certain words that kids aren't allowed to use. You can't protect your kids from everything, they need to know that just because someone else is doing it it doesn't mean that they can do it too.

Although I do have to say the Sh** word has it's place...

One time I had to drop of a fecal sample, but that was the day that I was to have my work framed. We found out the place was a closed workshop, so I couldn't get my work framed after all. So we went on to our next errand: drop of the fecal sample at the lab.

Turned out the lab was closed.  I couldn't help but say "Oh Sh**!" when I came back to my grandma.

We both had a good laugh.  Some swear words can be used in the right context, but otherwise I refrain from using them.

I use the F word among like-minded friends.  I would not use it in front of people I don't know well or who would be offended.
