lol, yep you all can !! its fun, look at babygirls photos if you get a chance shes posted lots of great ideas for a baby shower some beautiful cakes I could never make,,,Im gonna make the diaper cake though those are cute and the cloth diapers are good for burp clothes
Bernie yesterday I bought several baby outfits, the cutest newborn booties Ive ever seen and two blankets $130 american dollers for 6 pairs of baby socks, 2 blankets 4 gowns, 4 sleepers and 2 outfits, 2 baby hats...not bad i guess it was a name brand called carters we have here , good baby stuff
that sounds like a great idea!!! Can i buy a ticket!!!!! LOL
cherie we dont have baby showers here in ireland ,...when the baby is born everyone goes out then and buys the baby something ,because a lot of girls dont want to know what they are having till it arrives ,......i think a baby shower is great to have doe,..maybe we will cop on to it here in ireland ,...we do the basket thing as well ,..
we get something different each week for the baby before it arrives ,....
its a good idea because its not upon you all of a sudden ,...time goes in so quick cherie ,....before you know it he will be here ;))
have you heard of diaper raffles people do at showers now, you word it on invitations " please bring a pack of diaper , varying sizes , and you will get a ticket to enter in grand prize raffel." last showe I helped with we made a large basket with 2 or 3 chick flick dvds, a few 2 liters of pop, popcorn and large boxes of candy, It was fairly nice looking yet not too expensive, and my friend did not have to buy diapers for one year..its a great idea for anyone planning a shower.
Diapers are a big expense also.......Look for sales and pick some up. They go thru tons of them!!!!!!
Oh and congratulations on your boy!!!!!
Bernie, I cant wait for that time, I went shopping today, just couldnt help myself bought lots of cute stuff. I got some size 3 month close Robbies like thats too big I told him youll be suprised how quickly babies grown, Newborn close are often never used.
its really hard to explain cherie what its like to be a grandma ,...its the child that takes to you so much as well as you taking to them ,..
i suppose because we dont have to tell them what they should do and not do,
leaves us time just to love them ,...but i dont step in the way of my daughter with her rules with them ,after all she is the one bringing them up ,.you dont want to do that cherie ,...let holly be the mom and Robbie be the dad ,..i find if my daughter doesn't want me to give them anything sweet before there meal i dont ,.and if my granddaughter
has had to much sweet things before she comes to see me my daughter tells me and i wont give her anymore,...remember grandchildren can play up on there grandmas
when there around there moms ,just like they play up on there moms ,..
i think the best part of it is the love the grandchild will give to you ,..
my grandson is always kissing and hugging me just because i give him some quality time ,.with me ,.......
ahh i feel her pain of drunken people. my stepdad is a drunk and would harass me and just get up my a$$ while i was pregnant. even after the boys were born (i stayed with my mom for an extra month and a half just for the help since i was still recovering and greg was in d.c.) he would pick fights with me. in fact he pushed my mom and almost made her fall while she was holding one of my sons. that was the first time things got "physical" when we fought. at the time it was maybe 4 weeks after delivery so i was around 160 lbs. but i'm only 5'4. he's 5'9 and 220 lbs. i jacked his a@@ up against the wall and was in his face. hubby and i signed our lease on our townhouse that weekend when he was home. kids and i moved out a week after the lease was signed. i guess even timid little "church mice" such as myself will go crazy when it comes to their kids.
thats why Im trying so hard to be like a mom to poor holly the kids such a sweet girl , her dad is such an a$$ he kicked her bedroom door in in a drunken rage the other day, i got a feeling shes gonna end up living with me, which i of course would love, even my husband who can be a real jerk is concerned about her homelife and her bringing a baby there. I told her to come to our house any time night or day, and to call police if he gets too bad, she is a very intelligent sweet girl, my heart goes out to her.
the first time i saw my boys i just looked at my mom and we were both crying. (she was in the delivery room with me and actually cut eli's cord, she wanted to cut both but the doc cut brett's before she could get a chance) she held my hand and just said omg here they come!!! and started to cry. lol. greg was in d.c. at the time so my momma was in there with me. i honestly don't know what i would have done without her through my pregnancy and during my delivery.
your so right that smell is so perfect, I wonder what it is why they smell so good, its an undescribable smell, someone would have to of held a newborn to get what we mean,
Oh the ultrasound makes you cry too.....forgot about that!!! LOL
I was in the delivery room when my grandson was born.......I even slept in her room the first night he was born.......you will unwrap the baby, count the toes, wrap them back up, unwrap them, count toes again, wrap them and do it all over again!!! Ohhhh and there is nothing like the smell of a newborn baby.......well i am off to cry again!!!!
definitely take kleenex to the first u/s. lol. my mom bawled her eyes out. i think she cried more than i did.
thanks..Sara I better bring kleenex for tommrow I will probably cry when I see the baby those 4 d ultrasounds are something else, Its either Travis or Madison..And I get to be in delievery room , and cut the cord how very cool is that....glad that my sons gf (Holly) and I get along so very well.
Nothing we can say will even come close to the feeling you will have the first time you lay eyes on that baby........
The only word of advice i can think of is bring kleenex!!!!! You will cry more than the baby!!! sara
my kids are the first grandkids for all grandparents. they are SPOILED!!!! lol. as long as you love the baby and do all the grandma duties (of course giving them ice cream right before bed!! lol) you'll be fine. my kiddos are the apple of their grandmas (my moms) eye. whenever she holds them she just lights up. same with my grams (their great grams). she just lights up when she sees them. pouring out all your love is all you need to do. being there for the baby when s/he just needs someone (who's not mom or dad) and always having tons of goodies to eat.....you'll be fine.
You don't need any advice, as much love that you have your children, will go right to your granbaby. Just stay close love them and you will be a great fantasic granma
You will be great..we cant wait for all the pics you are going to put up.....
You'll be a great Grandma because you care so much! I've noticed two different approaches, my mom and a good friend of mine. I want to try to follow how my friend is with her kids and grandkids. My mom really cares but she gets too pushy and tries to take over a lot. My friend says she tries to be careful with that because she knows her kids are grown now and that these are their kids. She says she just tries to enjoy her grandkids but not try to raise them. She leaves that up to the parents. It's ok to give advice, just be careful to not take over. That's the only advice I can think of!
I know you're getting excited! So are we! Can't wait till the new baby arrives! Keep us informed. :)
Being a gramma of 16, the first one will always have my heart. I no that sounds terrible, but we have a special connection. I went in and was the first to hold em. Even over Mom and Dad! Leave the raising of them up to mom and dad, and you just get all the good stuff!
