53yrs old, just off birth control, when do I get my period

Been on birth control since 17, now I'm 53. Was off bc twice for babies, but that's it. So Doctor took me off 1 1/2 months ago, said when I don't get my period for a year I am on menopause. But I haven't gotten any period since he took me off. Is this normal?

Yes, it is normal even if you are not postmenopausal (which is not likely, as Caryopteris said) it takes a while for your periods to return after so many years on the birth control pill.

At 53, your periods are very likely behind you.
