Is Discharge with vaginal atrophy normal?

Hi, I am new here but been lurking for a while and I have not seen anything about this issue. I am post menopausal, have had hysterectomy but still have cervix and ovaries. I have been told I have atrophy. What I want to know is if anyone who has this gets a thick white discharge. It is not constant, it will happen for like days and sometimes heavy and then all of a sudden it will go away. Albeit eventually comes back.  Ert stressful. I can not take estrogen because I carry BRCA2 gene. I can deal with it if I know it is normal, I just feel like it is some type of infection even tho all tests come back negative.
