Menopause at 29?

I am concerned I am now approaching menopause.

My concerns for this are:

* Heavy/late periods.

* Periods occurring every 21 days although this has extended to 29 days.

* Irregular ovulation. Although I ovulate every 13 days I have now ovulated on the 15th day.

* Very large breast lump - my own doctor has referred me to a breast clinic to be 100% sure it is not cancer. I have read that breast cysts are common in women at 35 and older as they are approaching menopause. I am only 29 and I have had several recurrences of breast lumps, although not quite as bad as this one. I have had recurrences of them since I was 20 years old.

* Hot flashes - I have had one hot flash and that was a few months ago. I came over hot, red and sweaty and almost lost consciousness.

* Hypothyroidism - I was diagnosed hypothyroid in May of last year, diagnosed Hashimoto's in January of this year.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi thanks for your answer. :)

My thyroid levels are as far as I'm aware normal since being on the thyroid medication but I have been told by fellow thyroid sufferers that my thyroid hormones are still low. FT4 is 16.8 (12-22) and my FT3 is 4 (3.1-6.8). My antibody levels for anti-TPO and anti-TG are negative but only just although in the past my anti-TPO levels have been elevated.

Other test results:

Testosterone was done in January 2014 and was 0.7 (0.2-1.7)
Prolactin was done in January 2014 and was 251 (0-700)

Ovarian cysts were ruled out in May 2011 via ultrasound, not done again since then.

Mum has history of PCOS.

The breast lump has now caused my breast to balloon. Upon checking it today I gauged both breasts' size with my hand. I can cover up my left one quite easily but not so as far as my right one is concerned.

Doctor has not said it's a cyst but a lump and that it's not cancer. She has said it's slippery and movable. So why the pain and why is it still here is what she is not telling me? I'm now just waiting on a scan appointment for the breast lump at present.

HI,
A menopause seems unlikely at the age of 29 years. Irregular periods and ovulation and hot flashes are usually due to hormonal problems. It is necessary to keep thyroid levels within the normal range. Also you should check for PCOS, high testerone levels and high prolactin levels. The symptoms of heavy and delayed periods can be due to endometrial hyperplasia, ovarian cysts, hormonal imbalance etc.
The breast lump needs further evaluation to rule out cancer. Even if it turns out to be a benign fibro-adenoma, removal is advisable. Consult your Doctor.
