Onset of menopause

I am 52 years young, this month I had a very light period. This is very unusual for me. Could this be the onset of menopause?

Hi there,

Yes, this could be the onset of menopause. You probably know that to
be considered menopausal, you will not have had your period for
a year. As someone who is menopausal, that's pretty much the way
mine started ie. with light periods. My doctor cautioned me though that
they wouldn't always be light on my way to being menopausal. I had
one period just before the end of the year that was anything but light
in fact it was very heavy and actually painful. When I was still having
my periods before I became menopausal at age 55, my periods were
usually very heavy and quite painful. For years , I had to take Naproxen
which is a muscle relaxant prescribed by my doctor every period.
Anyway, sounds to me like the beginning of becoming menopausal.
I wish you luck. Personally, I found it a relief not to have to worry
about my periods anymore. Menopause does have its benefits. Eve
