I recently was dx. with perimenopause and ended up in the hospital for four days because of the same issues. Everything checked out ok. I also am having thyroid issues that have alot of the same symptoms as perimenopause and hypothryoidism. It is all hormonal issues.
I started to have PVCs 6 years ago at 40. Ended up seeing a cardiologist who told me they are completely benign and she told me she DOES believe they are triggered by hormonal changes. But in structurally sound hearts they mean nothing! I began to take atenolol 25 mg a day to block them, I have no side effects from the medicine. The atenolol merely keeps me from freaking out when I get them:) Yes, mine came on suddenly but the meds have kept them at bay. My doctor told me EVERYONE gets them, some of us are just very sensitive and are aware of them. It is more common then you know.:)
I too experience the palpatations and yes the anxiety returned with perimenopause after an absence of twenty years. When I first started to experience them I would hurry and try to check my pulse in my arm to see if I could feel it there too, Never did. I heard caffiene can contribute as can cigarettes. Yes it is scary but pretty harmless. Welcome!
It was so confusing to me too when I started Peri Men. I felt panic/anxiety attacks and always felt on edge, I had heart palpatations and chest pains from the stress my body could no longer handle. Yes I do believe now it was all from hormones not being balanced. Took me years of tests and tests before I had to finally have a total hyster and the dr I found for my second opinion told me the doctors before should have went by the way I was feeling not by what the lab values from blood test. I remember thats when I first go bachs remedy its a spray been around for many years, it did help me some, but I did finally have to get some ativan from my Dr. It was a life savor but it slows your heart down and so you have to be careful what you take with it and such. GOOD LUCK!! Its not easy for some of us going through it. If I know now what I knew then, I would have stopped caffiene and sugar and starches it really helps having a better diet!
