Are the migraines I have suffered from for 3 months due to infected wisdom teeth?

by DanieRenee, Apr 21, 2009 11:05PM
Hello:)

I have experienced migraines daily for 3 months without relief. I finally went to a neurologist and he ran about 5 tests, then stated that he had no clue as to what was causing them. I personally feel as though he did not do his job. He prescribed me percocet which helps very much. I have tried everything else (IBProfen, Excedrin, Tylenol, Darvocet, Asprin, etc.) and nothing helps. I recently went to a dentist and he explained that I have two infected wisdom teeth of which are going to be extracted tomorrow. I am hopeing that the wisdom teeth are behind my chronic pain, because the pain is becoming unbearable. I get no relief. I thought that migraines come and go, not stay with you. Could my wisdom teeth be the culprate? And is my neurologist taking the appropriate measures? I am scared that I may have something that the neurologist is not seeing....

Well, my GP swore that the two are not connected, BUT I had all four wisdom teeth out about seven years agao, and my migraines went from almost daily to about one a fortnight.  So I'd say, although it may not be a proven clinical link, in my experience it did made a big change.  Apart from anything else, wisdom teeth pain is horrible, and that can't be good for migraine sufferers to have that as well.
Good luck with the extraction, it is pretty sore afterwards, but in comparison of the pain of NOT having them out, its peanuts!
