Chronic Headache

I've had a headache for over two weeks that is excruciating. It is either right behind my eyes, or in the back of my neck. It feels like someone is squeezing my brain. Sometimes it hurts so much that it makes me nauseous.  I've tried taking prescription ibuprofen but it doesn't help. Only going to sleep and hoping that it is gone when I wake up helps. Does anyone have any ideas what is causing this? Thanks!

You should really see a doctor if the headaches are so bad.  If you keep taking any pain reliever it just causes rebound migraines.  If it is the worst migraine that you can imagine, go to the ER.  It could be a stroke.  That's how my stroke started.  It went on for 3 weeks before it fully erupted.  See a doctor.

Oh my goodness! I didn't realize that long lasting headaches could be a sign of a stroke. I did talk to my doctor about it- I see a naturopath- and she prescribed a whole bunch of supplements. I started taking them and the severity of my headaches have reduced, but I'm still having them. I am supposed to begin craniosacral therapy this week with a different doctor. Maybe I will ask her what she thinks also!

I have the same type of migraines. It is chronic. More days than not I have the pain. They started when I was about 10 years old. I am 24 now. Back in 2006 I had CT scans, EEGs, and MRI done on my head and they found nothing. Doctors tried Topamax for prevention and Maxalt for immediate onset. This helped but has not cured. I have come off this medication since then. I have tried changing my diet. The diet change really has helped a lot but it's really hard especially when you just really want that candy, etc. It's not just candy either. I am looking into going to a new doctor soon. I hope you get the answers you are searching for. If you are like me your headaches make you fatigued, lacking energy, and irritable. I'm tired of suffering. I want a cure.
