Sudden headache after little wine

I have been able to consume wine without any problem - usually a glass with meals, have done for years, never over-doing it.....in the last couple of months though, I suffer from a severe pressure headache over the left eye after only a couple of mouthfuls of wine. It doesn't make any difference if it is red/white.

There is plenty of info out there on allergies to suplites/preservatives etc and for people that have always had wine headache. I can not find anything about sudden onset of headaches after a number of years

Hi,
This could happen because of liver problems or diabetes. I would suggest you to get your blood sugar test done and also If you are taking any medication just look for "no alcohol" warning. It is best to avoid alcohol for sometime till the cause is clear.

You can develop allergies any time to anything, I learned that with milk.  I've been able to drink it for years and years, and suddenly I started noticing  that I have severe stomach symptoms if I drink it, or eat cheese.  I've had to switch to Lactaid milk, and Lactaid is actually really good.  It tastes just like milk.

One thing is that maybe it's affecting the blood vessels.  Wine causes them to dilate, I think.  Don't quote me on that, LOL.  As we age, our bodies change, and unfortunately it's inevetible.  If you're really concerned,  you should probably see your doctor and discuss it with him/her.  I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I get that sometimes too. What a way to ruin a nice meal!

It doesn't happen all the time and seems to come when I start to drink on an empty stomach, say while cooking or before I have comsumed much.

Sorry I have no answer only similar conditions.
