Unilateral Eye Pain (Constant) w/ Nasal Pressure on Same Side

Hi,

I am an allergy sufferer who tried the allergy shots but stopped after about 2 years (testing showed I am allergic to most things).

I had LASIK (in 1/2007) and have mildly dry eye.

In June of last year I developed a dull ache behind the right eye which would come & go.  Assumed it was dry eye and sought the help of opthalmologists.  Tried most everything (compresses, plugs, omegas) minus Restasis.  Even tried new glasses at the computer, no help.  Warm compresses help for about 10 minutes.

Dull ache is still there behind the eye and I'm losing my patience.  My nostril on the right side is stuffed up pretty much 24x7.  No discharge.  Jawline hurts too.  Tried the neti pot - no luck.  Sudafed and Zyrtec do nothing.  No weird discharge to speak of.

What should I try next?  Seeing an ENT?  Dentist?  Or is there something OTC I could try?

How are you? There are some medications that may have rebound congestion. It is best that you avoid taking any medicine without proper diagnosis. If it has been more than a year, it is best that you have this evaluated by an ENT for proper management. If your eye doctor cleared you with any condition, we should try rule out other differentials such as sinus and nasal issues. Additional diagnostic tests such as CT or MRI may also be indicated to determine the possible cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
