headache/migraine

i have had this AWFUL migraine the past 2 days. i've taken tylonol, advil and ibprofin. NOTHING even touches this thing!!! i go to bed with it i wake up with it. i don't know what caused it or why i have it. at times (when it's at its worst) my vision goes blurry and i get this tremendous pressure in my head that sounds almost like a pulsing in my ears. i've tried to call my gp but she *****. she's never in her office and nurses don't know anything (i would switch docs but with the insurance dh and i have we don't have a choice who we go to). i'm at my wits end with this thing. it's causing me to be short tempered and i'm yelling at everyone. including my cat. over the dumbest things. i'm so miserable with this and i don't know what to do!!!

any thoughts on how to get rid of this thing??

actually the insurance won't. we're on the military insurance (my dh is a marine) and they're...well they suck. i had to fight with them just to keep my ob. they wanted me to go to an ob that was over 3 hours away. that was completely out of the question for me.

i do have some sound sensitivity. if the tv is up too loud the pulsing sound/feeling in my head gets worse. i do have nausea. not as often but it hits me here and there and the dizziness is a big yes. i was just attributing the dizziness to my heart/blood pressure problem but now i'm not so sure. i'm going to try to call my gp today (and beg dh to get us new insurance) to see if i can set up an appointment and ask her about those meds.

Find a different doctor, especially if you can't get an appointment and you need relief. Your insurance company should cover more than one physician.

If you're not on a migraine prevention medication, and you do have migraines often, they can put you on a generic version of Neurotnin that'll help prevent them... or something like Frova (better than Imitrex, in my opinion) to stop a migraine if it's truly one. If your insurance covers it, definitely get a referral to a neurologist.

Do you have light/sound sensitivity? Nausea/vomiting? Dizziness?
