My daughter has the opposite effect of altitude effects on her migraines? When we lived in Oklahoma she had a migraine at 6 yrs of age and another at 8 years of age. We moved to Colorado and not once did she have a migraine. She has since returned to Oklahoma and her migraines are occurring much more frequently and the last one never completely going away? What is the high altitude doing for her? What can she do w/o moving back to Colorado?
Thanks for writing in.
The best thing would be to move to high altitude. If that is not possible she can try magnesium supplements and herbal supplement Migravent which have been known to prevent migraines. For acute attacks she will have to take medications like Imitrex. Lying down in a quiet dark room with cold compresses on the head also helps.
