Yes, you are sick - meaning some ailment because of consistent headaches. I am not a doctor but definitely go to the neurologist. I don't know much about Spains medical community, but I would suggest getting a full MRI with contrast. Since you have recurrent symptoms after surgery you should be able to get the neurologist to approve another MRI. If you can afford to go to the eye doc to, may as well. If you are near-sighted, that eye strain can cause a headache or be a TRIGGER for migraine. Make sure to get a copy of MRI on CD. You can actually look at your own scans on the disc. A neurologist will be the specialist that will know if your sinus problem has impacted your brain in some way, or its perfectly normal. It could be something as simple as severe seasonal allergies that are a TRIGGER for migraine or a small but chronic infection that is slowly moving into the brain Don't freak, the odds of that last one are almost impossible - blood work should have shown it and you should have had that before sugery.
For me, I went to the ENT just trying everything looking for help with severe headache. And I am a somewhat attractive girl but have the ole Italian bump in the middle of my not so little nose. So hey it was worth the trip. He laughed during the exam and said I have sinuses as big as a house. So I definitely am not getting sinus headaches. OK, that helped the self esteem - but on the MRI I can see exactly what he means. I don't like the idea of assigning surgery because it "might" help. Anyway, since you will have the MRI on CD, you will have the option of being able to send them to one of the top-notch hospitals in spain or you may be able to get an eval of the MRI by a specializing teaching hospital in the US as well.
One good diagnostic question - on a scale of 1-10 how bad is the headache before med and then what number is it after pain medication. And what pain med did you try - in Spain you may have Codiene ect.. over the counter, I'm not sure but if you are from USA - and not familiar with labels ect be sure to talk to the pharacist about exactly what you are taking. Also, you didn't hurt your neck or anything did you?
Hi,
You could be still having the sinus problem as the chances of a complete resolution of sinusitis post surgery is not seen an all cases. Were you prescribed nasal sprays, steam inhalation, saline drops etc post surgery?
You should also get your vision checked, as that could be causing your headaches and increasing them at other times.
A neurologist would probbaly ask for a repeat MRI, would tell you the status of your sinuses and also whether an eye specialist consultation would help. So it would be best to schedule an appointment with a neurologist at the earliest.
Have you noticed any other trigger factors for your headaches?
Hope this helps.
Good luck.
I dont know if its the sinus problems anymore, because i went to my doctor and he put some microscope camera or something up my nose and he looked and he said that the sinus problems are gone and that there is some other factor that is causing the headache, i dont know why but i still dont kind of believe him for some strange reason. SO what do you guys suggest exactly? should i go to the neurologist first or should i go to the eyedoctor first?
thanks for all your help, you guys are great!
Hi,
It would best advisable to consult a neurologist first. It would help to establish the possible diagnosis, and he would probbaly prescribe some medication for your symptoms.
It would also then be decided whether you need to rule out an eye problem or sinusitis as the cause of your symptoms.
Do continue with the physical therapy.
Good luck.
Try these exercises and your headache will get better gradually.Come back after 2 weeks to report your progress.
