have been battling a really terrible cold/sinus infection for over 6+weeks. I was doing fine for about a week when 2 weeks ago I relapsed again. I started coughing, now my right ear pops frequently, I have terrible headaches (which my GP says is from having tension headaches), and I feel this strage pulse-like throbbing by my temple (above the right ear). I do not know how to explain it but this pulse is kinda like when your eye or lip twitches except that it is by my temple in my head. Is this normal? I mean, I have heard of people who have a nerve jump in their leg or arm. Not in the head. Am I the only person on the planet who has this? These feelings started 2 weeks ago.
I made a thread about my tension headaches and the twitching feeling. These twitches, pulse, or whatever you call it is happening a few times a day and it is starting to creep me out. It is not as frequent as when I relapsed but it happens every day no matter what. I notice that when I aggravate my sinus, like by crying, my nose gets stuffy and then the twitches occur. Any relation to the sinus???
How do I know that these strange feeling in the head arent serious? My GP says not to worry which worries me because he cannot explain what is the cause of my feeling. I do not want to be dramatic and get a CT scan or MRI because I am trying to think positive and see if my GP can suggest something like a vitamin. I am scared to have to go to the hospital and do the CT/MRI. Dont know if that would be necessary. I never had a cold for this long. Could a cold/sinus infection really cause a bunch of strange symptoms like mine?
Also, now my eye will twitch, my neck, and my leg. All of a sudden this is happening. Should I be worried?
By the way, thank you so much! =)
Hi. I had my appointment with the GP yesterday and he said that yes, I have a terrible sinus infection and I am also suffering from tension headaches. I guess I should post a thread about tension headaches, huh? The GP said that tension headaches can stem from stress.
Hi,
Thanks for writing back.
Yes viral infections can result in headaches and body aches and this is known as chronic fatigue syndrome.
Tension and anxiety can cause muscle twitches, neck and head strain and sporadic tingles.
However these can also be symptoms of neurological conditions like peripheral neuropathy and MS, and nerve compression in the spinal cord.
Brain tumors will produce neurological symptoms like headaches, one sided body weakness, numbness, slurred speech, dizziness, memory loss, visual symptoms like blurriness and loss of field of vision. The symptoms basically depend upon the part of the brain involved.
Also, what are some signs and symptoms of brain tumors?
Thank you so much for responding to my post. Your response is a comfort. I will be visiting my doctor later on today so I will post back with further info.
I know that I am a stressed person but is it possible for the stress/anxiety to cause such a tension in my neck, back, and head? I get these strange twitches and like I said, my left arm and leg gets sporadic tingles.
I was actually told that a viral infection/flu that is left untreated can cause a lot of dicomfort to the head and therefore lead to other medical issues such as headaches, body aches, and spasms. Is this true?
Why do you think my GP would tell me that nerve twitches are abnormal? I always thought it is normal for the body to twitch every now and then. Like, sometimes, my eye will twitch or my upper lip.
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
Your symptoms seem to be due to sinusitis and anxiety. I would suggest you to take steam inhalation 3-4 times a day and once before bedtime. Avoid cold drinks and cold foods. Drink warm fluids and take OTC decongestants.
Use saline nasal drops once or twice a day and use a humidifier at night. Fatigue, tiredness and exhaustion and pins and needles sensations can be due to excessive stress and anxiety. Make sure you take your post natal supplements and eat balanced meals. The possibility of fibromyalgia cannot be ruled out. The primary symptoms of fibromyalgia are generalized weakness and muscle cramps and aches and pains. Please discuss these possibilities with your treating doctor.
Take care!
