Has anyone had these with numbness and confusion

I had my first migraine with blind spots, flashing lights, etc. about 16 years ago.  That lasts about 30-45 mins and then the headache, which is fairly mild.  At first they were very sporadic, like once every three or four years.  Over the past few years I have begun to have more of them.  I will have several over a few weeks or months period and then not for few weeks or months period.  Once I had four in one day, and one even woke me up.  FF to last night.  Started out the usual way, blind spot in middle of vision.  Then the flashing started.  I just lay down to let it pass and fell asleep for about 30 mins.  When I woke up the vision was fine, but I could hardly think.  I could form words I just couldn't say what I was talking about or what I wanted to say.  More than being scared I was frustrated.  That lasted about an hour.  Then my right hand went numb.  It started at my thumb and worked its way around.  There was no tingling, just solid numbness.  It only lasted about fifteen minutes and then left.  After a couple of hours I could think coherently and felt better, other than feeling like being hit by a bus.  I looked it up on the internet and it did talk about these symptoms, but they are literally debilitating while they're happening.  Does anyone else do that?  Thanks.

Hi,
Thank you for your update. As explained by Eddie1994, the aspirin has both analgesic and antithrombotic effects and is used for preventing heart attacks and strokes. You can also try complementary and alternative medicine such as biofeedback therapy and other relaxation techniques if you are wary of taking too much medications. Take care and do keep us posted.

4inline,

The baby aspirin will help reduce the stickyness of red blood cells and help prevent clots and maybe strokes.

I will look up possible triggers and try to avoid them.  I did call my neuro and she told me to take a baby aspirin every other day.  What does that do?  The nurse didn't know, she just relayed the message.  I don't want more drugs if possible, but I wouldn't mind trying some natural alternatives.  Will look those up also.  Thanks for feedback.

Hi,
How are you? Try to identify possible triggers that may be responsible for your attacks. The migraine tracker here in Medhelp may help. However, I also recommend further evaluation by your neurologist for proper management. Abortive and preventive medications may help.  You can also try complementary and alternative medicine such as biofeedback therapy and other relaxation techniques.Take care and do keep us posted.

Thanks for response and letting me know that I'm not alone.  I'll look up Hemeplegic Migraine.  I hope I don't have these too often because, as you know, it's not fun.  Unless it got too often I don't want anymore drugs because I'm having other neuro issues and don't need anything on top of it.  Thanks again!

You are describing exactly what I have!! I agree with you, its very frightening. I ended up in hospital as they thought i had had a TIA but was later diagnosed with Hemeplegic Migraine. I take 1.5 pizotifen every night but to be honest it hasnt stopped all the symptoms. I also get this horrible feeling in my head where everything sounds really loud and thats when the confusion starts. I've been suffering this on and off for a week now since my last migraine with aura.
Try not to worry too much as it probably isnt helping you.....but hope it helps a bit knowing you're not going mad! Take care .
