Hi.
There are several types of seizures. Was yours classified? There are seizures which may not be readily obvious. A mild twitch of one part of the body or a feeling of confusion or amnesia may actually be a seizure manifestation. Seizures and migraines have been observed to occur together. The delineation between the two are of course not readily made unless an EEG may be done and read by an expert.
A complete assessment of cardiac function is also necessary since you have mentioned that the headaches appeared to be aggravated by position.
Are you hypertensive?
Do you have any known kidney problems?
Hi Vanessa, Thanks so much for your reply, After i had my seizure i immediatly went to the doctors its not the first seizure i have had over 30 years i have had around 12 only the last 3 have been more frequent and worse, i have an appointment firstly with the cardiology department then if that comes back ok they will refere me to neurology, what i dont understand is if my headache is a result from the seizure then why the delay, thanks jo
Hi,
With a recent history of a seizure, it is best to pursue a neurologic consult. A 24 hour video EEG if feasible may be ideal if one wants to differentiate between a seizure and a migraine. There are seizures which may present atypically as in the case of partial complex and absence seizures. There are also migraines that are closely associated with seizures.
A baseline cranial CT can and a scan of the cervical spine may help rule out involvement of these structures. A migraine headache and tension headache may be primary differentials at this point however, their diagnosis needs to be put on hold until further tests have been done to rule out any underlying conditions which may also contribute to your symptoms.
Hi pattig Thanks for replying, yes 3 weeks ago i had some sort of seizure and im awaiting tests, think it could be epilepsy so not in the best of health, i know instantly everyones thoughts are thats exactly what are causing the headaches but why now and not 3 weeks ago, when i get these headaches which have been everyday for the last 5 days all i can do is curl up in bed, is that like your daughter? painkillers are not working, My family think its all in my head(no pun intended) i can assure you its not, hope your daughter is feeling better jo
jojoc37, my daughter has been feeling the exact same way, for about 2 months.
Has anything stressful happened in your life recently? My daughter became dizzy from a "viral attack on her vestibular nerve" and since the dizziness started getting better she started getting the pressure, not pain, in her head. like it is being squeezed. Also feels sick/nauseous and tired alot. I see her constantly pushing on the sides and top of her head trying to relieve the pressure.
She has been to a neurologist who said it is tension headaches, but her primary doctor, said to find another neuro as these are not just tension headaches. She also has had an MRI and CT scan which were done when she initially got the dizziness/vertigo and they are both normal. All bloodwork is normal.
They have also suggested this might be anxiety/stress. But I think it is more her worrying about being dizzy.
