Inpatient treatment experience

My neuro has suggested to admit me to hospital for a 5-day treatment of status migrainosus during pregnancy that has been persisting for two weeks since 12/18/14. I've been sent to hospital three times in the past two weeks for this refractory migraine headache. I want to know if anyone here had similar experience with inpatient migraine treatment. From what I understand, this is rare, but my neuro truly thinks my case can no longer be controlled on an outpatient basis, as I'm so distressed with high BP, high pulse, dehydration everyday that potentially is putting my baby in danger if not corrected.

To add to Ball's suggestions you can...

Use ice or heat packs.
Find something that can be tied around your head that gives you a bit of pressure. (dilated blood vessels in the brain is what causes the pain of migraines so, putting a bit of pressure on those blood vessels helps). I like to use those cloth head bands but a bandanna or something similar works too.
You can also put Mentholatum on your forehead and temples...can be done with or without the wrap, depending whether you like the heat or not.
Aroma therapy helps...lavender is the most popular for migraines.

I hope you find relief soon.

Sounds reasonable maybe. But in migraine pain and other symptoms seem to be connected, so taking away the pain might actually help the blood pressure.
But anyway, the hard part is of coarse to keep you as healthy and safe as possible without effecting the baby. It can not be easy i imagine. Is there nothing you can do to make it better? Relaxing, classical music, walks or similar?

Anyway, good luck!

I've been in and out hospital four times now. My doctor does prioritize hydration and lower blini pressure over pain control. IV Mg if given more than 5d can cause thinning of fetal bones... That's what I was told.  Just really wish the drill ends soon.

So sorry to hear this. Obviously the baby's best must be the focus here. Maybe a hospital visit might be good. They could maybe try with IV magnesium?

Best of luck whatever you decide!

I have not had any experience with what you are describing. Maybe someone will come along and shed some light on the subject for you. Good luck and keep us posted.
