What migraine meds do you use otc?

Hi there!
Just looking for a bit of help (from Australia)...
Ive heard recently that codeine is not the best medicine to take for mild to moderate migraines.  I have always used products that contain codeine for my migraines such as paracetamol/codeine, ibuprofen/codeine, paracetamol/doxylamine/codeine etc.  Do other people use these types of meds? Why do you use them? Is it because you find they work better than meds without codeine? Advertising on the pack/tv? Advice from health professional/friend?
Thanks!

I am with furballsmom. I take excedrin migraine as soon as it starts when I get a bad one. Otherwise I use naproxin sodium. These seem to work best if taken before it becomes full blown. I usually take one or the other and try to take at least a one hour nap. I usually wake up and the migraine is either gone or going. Best of luck hope you find one that works.

Well, other than I can't take the medication because of allergies to Acetametaphin, which is the medication in Tylenol, there is an OTC medication that the neurologist suggested 'til he found out I can't use Tylenol.

If you can find the brand Excedrin in Australia, they make a combination medication called Excedrin Migraine.  It does not have any Codeine in it.  I'm certain that someone else here will have more input on this stuff as to whether it helps or not.

I do use the equivalent of Aleve.  I get it as a prescription because my insurance still covers it and my copay is low.  Naproxen is the medication in Aleve.  My neurologist likes it because it is fast acting and works much faster than Ibuprofen.

Just be aware that any of these NSAIDS can be hard on your stomach.  And, Tylenol can be hard on the liver.  Just so you know.  Plus, over taking any migraine medication can make those rebound headaches appear and can make you even more miserable.  It's a tough balancing act.
