Hi,

Do you have your MRI results?

What I am concerned is the size of the pineal cyst which is 10-12 cm as you have posted. Is this correct?

If this is correct, then the cyst is large and can compress nearby structures .This may cause neurologic deficits and warrants immediate intervention. Pineal cysts may enlarge due to intracystic hemorrhage and accumulation of cystic fluid. This may cause hydrocephalus and increased intracranial pressure. The pineal cyst if it progressively enlarges and causes symptoms requires surgical intervention. Get a good referral to a neurosurgeon for immediate intervention.

Consult your doctor and ascertain your MRI results.Bing the results with you each time you see a physician.

Keep us posted.

Hi,
My headaches get real bad. I get nauseous have sensitiviy to light and sound my head just throbs feels like a one ton truck is parked on my head i get light headed standing up and when i'm just setting or lying down.  i've had blackouts since i was 7 but they have gotten progressivly worse in the last 6 months or so. I black out about 3 to 4 times in a 2 week period. About 3 weeks ago i had a seizer everyday for 4 days and had a blackout 3 days in a roll.
I see my family Doctor once a month to monitor my headaches and my seizers but all he does is give me more pain medication and says i just don't see how you can keep living like this, it's not much of a life and sends me on my way. He has sent me to a Neurologist but the neurologist doesn't think that the cyst is what is causing my problems but also couldn't tell me what was. I live in a small town and the doctors here don't know much about pineal cyst. My family doctor is still looking up information about it. He himself has told me and my dad that i will never be able to work again due to my condition and that i needed surgery to remove the cyst and just a few weeks after him saying that is when i seen the neurologist. And a week after that is when he got the results from my EEG and discovered i was having Brain seizers. he has been trying to find outwhat is causeing the seizers but hasn't came up with anything yet. Yes my condition has gotten worse.
My doctors are at a lose they don't know for sure how to treat my condition so they just keep giving me pain meds and sending me on my way. I have taken my doctor more information on pineal cyst then what he has found. And this is the best doctor that i have had yet in the last 15 years but yet he still cant help me fix this. And like i said My doctor told me and my dad that i will never be able to work again but yet wont help me try to get on disability yet and i am a single mom of 4 kids i live with my dad because of my medical condition. I do have a wonderful boyfriend who i have been with for a little over 2 years now but i have known for 11 years so he has known about my medical condition for years and they both help me out alot. If i didn't have them i don't know what i would do. I am on MC+ and temporary assistance from the state since i cant work but that doesn't go very far with 4 kids. And this is also hurting my kids and i hate that.
But like i said i am from a small town and the doctors here don't know much about pineal cyst. The Neurologist says that pineal cyst don't cause symptoms. And yes i know that alot of them don't but larger ones like mine do and i cant get that through to them.

Hi,

How severe are your headaches?

Has your condition worsened recently?

Have you experienced any "blackouts" in the last 3-6 months? Or this has only occured recently?

I suggest you seek immediate consult with your physician who might request for a repeat MRI. Any progresion of symptoms warrants further investigation.

Be proactive about this and be positive.

Keep us posted regarding your progress.

Hi,

Is this the correct measurement in cm?

I suggest you keep a close follow up with with your neurologist .The brain seizures and black outs may hurt you and warrants further evaluation and management.

Pineal cysts are benign and usually asymptomatic. They should be monitored for their growth. Things to watch out for are intracystic hemorrhage and mass effect due to the  cyst's increase in size.It may manifest as vision problems and hydrocephalus.

When was your last scan done?

Further evaluation may be needed due to your persistent headaches to rule out aforementioned cause such as intracystic hemorrhage.

Stay calm and keep a positive attitude.
I hope this helps.
