You will never forget on any miscarriage no matter how far along you were or how pain free it was.  I have had 5 and one of them was a d&c.  Were you on progesterone?  Sometimes if the doc gives you progesterone it delays the miscarriage even when you are going to have one.  It took nearly 2 weeks for me to miscarry one naturally while on progesterone.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  I will be thinking about you.  No woman should have to go thru this much pain.  All I can say is keep that faith and don't even give up.  It will happen..just have to wait.

I totally know what you mean, if mine had made it i would be gettting close to the second trimester, and that would be awesome!! but, it didnt work this time, I have a lot of faith it will work the next time, dont know why i just do :)
I felt better once I had the D&C, i think it helped me close the chapter, i didnt even cry it was just an acceptance and knowing it would happen for me soon, all my crying was done the weeks before. It is good to know there are people out there that have gone through this and ended up having a healthy pregnancy, gives you hope.
I hope your D&C is quick and painless tomorrow. I rested that whole day, lazed around, but by the next day i was up and about without any pain.

just want to say first off, so sorry.
annie is right, that you do not have to feel anything--such as having cramping or bleeding in order to have a M/C, you can feel totally fine and still have a M/C. If the nurse is right and baby does not have a H/B anymore, then eventually your body will have a M/C. If you take a HPT it will still show positive, it will even show positive after a M/C has happened. I am really sorry, but I would get another U/S before the D&C. I had a D&C last friday after monitoring baby with U/S one time a week, but unfortunatly a h/b never showed up, but I knew the pregnancy was not viable beofre it ended and have no doubts. Just remember this will be over and before you know it you will be able to try again. It is really hard but you will get through this.

The lack of symptoms really doesn't tell you very much even now, since passing the embryo can lag fetal demise by a few weeks.  (When I miscarried my twins, it took four weeks.)  The actual numbers of your hCG levels will tell you a lot.  If they are dropping, then it is definitely a miscarriage.  But hCG levels don't come down to zero until you no longer have a vascular placenta (i.e., one with blood flowing in and out) in your body, so a pregnancy test simply saying "positive" unfortunately does not help you know the status of the embryo itself.  I think that since the nurse saw no heartbeat with both kinds of ultrasound, you have to prepare for the worst even while hoping for the best.  Definitely insist on another ultrasound, it will be definitive and will help you understand in your heart what has happened, if it did.

Get another ultrasound and your hCG levels checked.  It will make sure that you know in your heart what has happened, and otherwise you will always wonder if there had not been some kind of horrible mistake.  I am pretty sure the nurse is correct (it is hard to miss the absence of a heart beat after there has been one), but you need to know for sure before having a D&C.
