Am i having a miscarriage??

Here's my deal...I don't even know if I was pregnant first of all but had a few symptoms (breast swelling/tenderness, lump in abdomen, exhaustion, etc.).  Well I just started my period a week early and this morning had the worst cramps of my life to where I could do nothing but curl up in a ball in bed and cry.  I've had cramping all day today, sometimes a lot worse than other times but also have been bleeding heavily and passing a lot of dark red/brownish tissue/blood clots. Could I have been pregnant? And could I be miscarrying?  Any help would be REALLY appreciated. I've never had a period like this before.

There is really no way of telling unless you missed your period or took a hpt before your period was due. It is common to have a chemical pg which means your body at one point was pg but dissolves before your period is due. You could get your blood checked but depending on how far along you were the hcg may be out of your body. I think it could be the changing of the seasons affecting your period. It causes more cramping heavier flow etc. You may never know. Best wishes to you....

Thank you for your response. I am very upset about the possibility. I've wanted a baby ever since I can remember and this would have been the first possibility. I am scared to go and have the doc tell me its true. It's the last thing I want to hear. My boyfriend and I are both very disappointed as we have been trying to conceive for 8 months now. I was diagnosed with PID back in November 2008, could that contribute to this possible miscarriage?
