Any chance this is not a blighted ovum?
Went in for vag u/s last Wed, 5w0d. Lines up perfectly with my dates. Saw gest sac only. Hcg beta 11000, dr said definitely blighted ovum. Repeat beta 40 hrs later, 18000. Going in tomorrow for repeat u/s. No cramping, spotting, or diminished preg symptoms. Tomorrow will be 5w5d. With levels that high, is there any hope?

OK. Dr called me last Monday and told me the results of my second beta, and it was 18000, up from 11000 in less than 44 hours. So I went back in the next day and once again they only saw a sac on the vaginal, but the tech did an abdominal, and we saw a dot, and after searching and mashing my gut to death, we heard a fetal heart rate. I was given another appt in 4 weeks. So today they call and ask me to come in next week, instead. Didn't talk to Dr, but receptionist said it was just to make sure everything's still ok. They want to do another blood test to check progesterone. They would have told me if they suspected a problem, right? Please tell me she's just being overly cautious after making a big mistake at first?!
U r very early... U need another scan in few days or 10 days... To c ny progress... So dont worry n relax... Take care of urself n keep us posted...
In my opinion since your only 5 weeks yes there is a chance. With my daughter who is now 10 months I went for ultrasound when I should if been 6w5d but only measured 5w2d and only gestational sac was seen. My doctor ordered a repeat ultrasound in 2 weeks where I then measured 7w4d and seen my beautiful lil bean!
