Bleeding after miscarriage

I had a D&C in august (at 13.5 weeks pregnant), bled for 15 days, and started my first period 31 days after the procedure.  This period has lasted for six weeks now and I am getting pretty frustrated.  I called my doctor who said that my body is just trying to recover, but didn't say much else and made an appointment for December.  I was on the pill for almost ten years and got pregnant as soon as I went off, so I am not sure what a "normal" cycle is for me.  Has anyone experienced anything similar?  Has anyone gotten any additional information from their doctor?

I agree with adgal....it might take a while for your hormones to go back to normal and you should check with your doct a.s.a.p because bleeding for 6 weeks is definetly not normal.

After a miscarriage it can take some time for your hormones to balance themselves again.  That being said, bleeding for 6 weeks straight is not normal that I am aware of, and I think you should try to see a Dr. sooner then Dec.  I would seek another opinion, especially if the bleeding is heavy. Good luck.
