Could I have possibly had a misscarriage???

Greetings. I will do my best to keep this in a nutshell. I have been experiencing symptoms of depression since december and feeling extremely hormonal. (I should mention that I have a 17 month old so I do know what its like to be pregnant). I  thought that I was pregnant mid january  (because I was feeling very hormonal, exhausted, nauseous)  when my period was almost a week late but tests said that I was not. The feelings of depression and being hormonal continued until about mid February and suddenly I feel fantastic again. I was at my Ob/Gynlast week  for a check up and he said that I had bacterial vaginosis (I had no idea! had no symptoms) He treated it with MetroGel and the day after completing the treatment I now have a yeast infection! I am very diligent about hygeine so I do not know how this could have happened. I am married and have only 1 partner and have NOT even been having sex very often because my libido has been non existent since feeling depressed. I have read that yeast infections and BV can occur when the natural bacteria are off balance and that this can happen with pregnancy. SO.....I am wondering if all of these thing could have been cause by me being pregnant and never even knowing it? I just came to this possible realization yesterday and have not yet discussed it with my doctor, but do plan to. I saw my regular dr because of how I was feeling and he sent me for bloodwork to test my thyroid (i already do have hypothyroidism), b12 and some other things and those results have no come back yet. Could I have in fact been pregnant and that is what caused all of these things?

I agree with Chrissy that is is very unlikely. I feel that you may just be experiencing these feelings due to your hormones trying to regulate post pregnancy. I know it seems like a long time, but it can take a considerable amount of time for your body to regulate.

As for the infections it is almost impossible to concieve having BV as it kills the sperm before they could even fertalize an egg.

I would focus on getting everything cleared up and feeling better. Also if you had been pregnant you would likely get a very heavy period- markedly different from those in the past.

Good luck to you

Hey there,
Although it is possible that you could have been pregnant and didn't know it I think it is unlikely. You have described a few things that sound very familiar to me! The yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis, are really quite common and although they do occur alot in pregnancy they also occur alot when not. The bacterial vaginosis and the yeast infection can be easily caused by using soap in your nether regions, women are advised not to use soap down there or to use non perfumed PH balanced soap as the perfumes in soap can cause bothe the BV and the YI. As for you feeling exhausted, and depressed, have you spoken to your doctor about postnatal depression? (baby blues) also being exhausted comes as a package with a small child, I have a little girl about the same age as your baby and I know hte feeling of being very very tired. I hope this was helpful and will maybe put your mind at rest. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon! :) x
