Cramping but no period 5 weeks after miscarriage?

I am 27 years old and was pregnant with my first child, however, miscarried on 12/31/09 at 6 weeks pregnant.  I had a natural miscarriage and my bleeding had pretty much stopped at 1/03/10.  It has now been a little over 5 weeks and i have had period like cramps all week with no bleeding?  My breasts/nipples are looking as they did when I was pregnant.  I have had unprotected sex about 6 times since the miscarriage so just to be sure I took a pregnancy test today and it was negative. My question is has anyone had period like cramping with no period,  pregnancy symptoms 5 weeks after a miscarriage? Is this normal? I keep wondering if I might be pregnant again, but I am wondering if that is wishful thinking especially with a negative pregnancy test.  I have my blood drawn again next week to ensure HCG went to 0, it was at 17 on 1/22/09.  Thanks for any information!

I had a miscarriage on oct 20,2011 and I was almost 7 weeks. I passed the baby naturally and stopped bleeding within 4 days. My husband and I gave had sex regularly since then. It's now 4 weeks since the miscarriage and a couple of days ago I started cramping like I was going to start but I have yet to! I took a pregnancy test today and it was negative...I am just wondering If there is a chance I could be pregnant or should my period start soon??

I had a miscrriage on March 25th. Bled for about 7 days, which is a lot longer than my normal period.  Went to the doctor april11th she said due to discharge color, creamy white, I was probaly about to ovulate. She also suggested waiting to ttc , my husband and I agreed but were intimate on 13th, oops.  Now I'm totally confused because is I count my m/c as my period I should have started on the22nd or 23rd. But according to my doc and the later than normal ov. Than I should start tomorrow.  I am currently the mother of a wonderful 19month old ,and this is our second miscarriage since our daughter.  Tested 3 days ago, neg.So badly want to test again...

Well I got my blood test results back, and they were at 3 so they said that it 'probably left over from the miscarriage.'  My last HCG test was 3 weeks ago on 1/22 and it was at 17.  Would it take 3 weeks to go down to 3?  I asked if that hcg could be from a new pregnancy but they said "doubtfully" but I don'tknow.  I still haven't had a period and it's been 6 weeks 3 days since the miscarrige. The Dr. said to call them if I don't get a period by 2/28 ( 8 weeks ) ...

That is a blessing that u are that strong of a woman. I, honestly would not be able to deal with it. I was pregnant with my 1st and had a missed miscarriage. Im 20 yrs old and I went to the doc friday, 2-5-10, for a regular checkup thinking I was 13w5d...the baby only measured to be 11w5d. I was devastated....I had a D&C done the next day and as of today the painful cramping is gone but im still slightly bleeding.  I find myself constantly trying to find miracle stories on ladies who have been in the same situation, had a D&C, got pregnant right afterwards and went on to have a healthy baby. Ive been praying for my next pregnancy to be healthy and go full term and I wish you the same.

I tell co-workers that after a while you get numb however that is just a cover.  It never gets easier you just have to learn to cope with it and decide what is in your heart whether to continue trying or just give up.

I keep myself pretty busy all of the time and also try to believe that one day it will happen and I will be able to have a happy ending story to tell our little boy or girl how she/he is a miracle child.

I'm glad to hear that your husband is being very supportive to you at this time. My first m/c with my dh was pretty rough and he was really disappointed but when I had my second one he told me that he didn't know why I was so upset considering that each time I would get pregnant I would just loose them.  This m/c he is being supportive and has said the same thing to me that your husband said to you.  It is really hard to wait and I go in Monday to see what exactly is going to happen with this one.  It's still hopeful that things will change but I called my dr this morning and told them that I was pretty sure it was over so I stopped taking the prometrium and was going to let nature take it's course.    On the lighter side of all of this, I did finally get my dr to send me to an actual RE so maybe he will have some insights on why I can get pregnant but just can't carry one past 8 weeks.

I am so sorry to hear of your miscarriages. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that your next pregnancy will be healthy.

I appreciate your information and agree that next week's blood work will tell me what I want to know...I just need to be patient.  My husband says to 'just let nature do it's course', but is hard to wait for results.

I am thinking these symptoms are just my horomones returning to normal, but I guess anythign is possible. With my first miscarriage, I got pregant without having a period for 6 months...so who knows. I think my body just is trying to regulate.

I will keep you posted on my condition and hope to hear good news from you soon as well.

Best wishes to you and good luck to you as well! I know it's hard but i do believe everything happens for a reason.

I'm so sorry for your loss.   This could be a new pregnancy for you or it could be your hormones getting back to normal again.  Next weeks blood test will confirm whether you got pregnant right after your miscarriage or if this is just a continuation of your miscarriage.

When I miscarried number 6 back in Dec 2008 my levels took forever to return to normal and I was so positive that I was pregnant again because my symptoms returned so strong but it was just my hormones returning back to normal.   My 7th m/c in Jun 09 was just as bad even though my level went to 0 within a week.  I called my dr to tell them that I just knew I was pregnant but after a blood test confirmed that I was indeed not pregnant.

I'm going through my 8th m/c right now and there has been times when my pregnancy symptoms will go away but will return really strong but that is because my hcg is at 430 right now.

Keep us informed, it would be great to hear that your beta's increased and you are newly pregnant again.  Best of luck to you and again so sorry to hear of your loss.
