Folic Acid Defeciency

For women who has lack of folic acid what was the amount your dr put you on, and what did the dr say is safe. My multivitamin tab has 1mg of folic acid which is 1000 mcg but ive also been taking an extra tab of folic acid that is 800mcg(0.8mg) so im getting about 1.8 mg of folate acid, im going to call my ob, i just wanted to no what you women were taking.  Im not preggo yet, just got AF after m/c and going to ttc next month.

CONGRATS on AF showing! Doesn't seem like my wonderful Aunt is ever going to show, since I'm still spotting from the D&E. I bet you are so relieved she showed! Your body's back to normal!

As for folic acid, I'm taking a prenatal with 1mg of folate, Folbic tablet that has 2mg of folic acid, and an extra 800mcg of folic acid. Another lady on Med Help had twins last year, and told me she was taking folic acid equal to 10 prenatal vits. She said she did that a couple mnths before conceiving. She has MTHFR like me.

hi. Congrats!!  what a relief hugh?  Because there was somethig wrong with my baby last time, I am on the prenatel plus from the Dr. which i know has alot of folic acid as well as prescribtion folic acid 1mg, bu I have to take 4 at once one time a day.  She also told me that it takes about 3 months to really be sure that the folic acid is in you and working.  But i think most people generally have enough folic acid if they eat healthy anyways.  
well yesterday I finally got my positive ovulation, what is kind of weird is my period took like 7 weeks to come, then waited a month to try and yeserday is also the offical TTC date my Dr. gave me.  I guess we just now have to wait and see.  Anybody use the 5 day before missed period PT and have it work.  My mom is visiting fro NY and will be here that time, and I thought if  I was preggo it would be so cool if she found out when I did. (she already bought enough clothes from the last pregnancy for over three months w/o having to wash any!!) We didn't even know if it was a boy or girl yet!

It does feel weird to get my cycle, normally not something i would be wanting to come.

What type of test do they do to test for MTHFR, is it a special test or would it show up on a basic chemistry panel?

I used the pregnancy test from the dollar store 10 days before my cycle was do and got a BFP.  I dont like spending a lot of money on the other brands.  I also bought 25 ovulation kits for 20.00 from fertility shop com, they were 80cents a piece.

Just make sure the good ol' Aunt gets here by a month from now, or I'll really start getting worried. It's been 1 week since my D&E, so I guess I've got a little bit of a journey till AF actually shows.

As for the MTHFR test, it came with a full panel of testing that consisted of 12 vials of blood.
