I had a misscarage 5 weeks ago when I had my ultrasound they said I was only 3-4 weeks, I had had a posertive result 2 weeks before I had my m/c so I thought I was carrying twins with me getting a postertive result so early and the symptoms I was having I didn't experience till later on with my 1st 2 pregnancys. I am still having some symptoms now and still haven't had my period yet it has crossed my mind if I had lost one of a twin as I have twins and tripplets on my side and my partners side of the famliy but i wasn't sure weather the docs would know this while I was having scans and test ect while I was having my m/c ? , but I don't want to get my hopes up as I think its wishful thinking on my part! its nice to no I'm not the only one feeling like this .

Hi, Im so sorry for ur loss...I 2 suffered a miscarraige (19th Nov) was nearly 6 weeks. Twins run in the family...but they run in the mothers side...E.g. Do u have any twins on ur mothers side?? Is ur mum a twin? Do u have a twin Aunts, Uncles or a twin Aunt and Uncle?? It is only women that can carry the twin gene...it is passesd down through the generations. Fraternal Twins (non-identical) can only be passed from women to women. The fact that ur partner has twins in his family means nothing...A man cant carry the gene becos they dont ovulate, but if u carry the twin gene, but dont have twins u could pass it on to ur daughter who herself may have twins. Identical twins are rare...no one really nows why they happen it is a medical mystery?? they just occur in certain people?? they are not hereditary. My gran had a fraternal twin son and daughter as well as another 4 daughter (1 of them is my mum) and another son. the twins have not had twins of their own (my uncle wont have twins becos he is a man) but my mums other sister have fraternal twin daughters. Also my dad is a fraternal twin (he has a twin sister) but that doesnt matter becos I wont have the twin gene from his side becos he is a man too. Try and find out if there is any twins on ur mothers side...If so, ur chance of having twins increases. The gene is cslled "Hyperovulation" where u release more than 1 egg when u ovulate. Higher chances of having twins is if ur over over 35? had more than 2 pregnancies or are slighty overweight? I hope you can understand what I have said?? And that it helps.. If ur not sure whether u miscarried a twin, take another test in a week or so...Good Luck to u...xx
