TWO MISCARRIAGES IN A ROW

I have two daughter, ages 5 and 8. I had a miscarriage in 2008. I found out at 12 weeks when I went for my check-up, but the baby measured 5 weeks.  I had no signs of spotting or any cramping.  I miscarried again yesterday.  I just had the D and C today, June 22nd. I was 11 and a half weeks and I started spotting on June 20th at night.  I went to the doctor yesterday and there was no fetal heartbeat.  The baby measured 8 weeks.  I am so confused right now. I have two healthy pregnancies and two miscarriages back to back. Is there something wrong?  Is there a chance that I will have another miscarriage if I try again? Please help.

First I would like to say that I am very sorry for your loss. One of your m/c's sounds so familiar. So I went in on 6/15 for what I thought would be my 13 wk ultrasound. I was so excited. Well the baby only measured 6 wks 5 days. They took my HcG levels that day and told me to come back on the 17th to take them again. They just wanted to make sure I would m/c. Well the numbers dropped...Every since that m/c my body I could tell was changing. Anyways I had a D&C scheduled for Thursday, but very early this morning the baby passed. I was devestated. I am like you as well because I had 3 perfectly healthy babies. So why all of a sudden me? I am very afraid like you are, but I have learned to relax a little, after much research, talk's with other women and with my doctor.

When you have 2 m/c's back to back it most definitely doesn't mean that there is something wrong with you. My doc told me that m/c's are actually very common among women and most of the time aren't charting so they don't notice. I have heard that "usually" the only time they will look into m/c's is if we have had 3 or more "in a row." The other time they look into things is when you had a m/c in the second trimester and the baby is measuring second tri.

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell if you will m/c again, but my thoughts are that if you are healthy and have had 2 previous healthy pregnancys' then maybe the 2 m/c's in a row were just bad luck. I really don't like putting it that way but sometimes maybe coincedence can play a part. "Technically" after a m/c a woman's chance increase very very little to .02% to have another one.

Again, I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I personally can't believe what I saw and what happened this morning. It was terrifying. Now I am scared to even get preggers again. However as soon as I stop bleeding in the next few days my DF and I will TTC immediately. I have lost to much in my life and I know God has a plan for us all. I hope this helps and good luck! If you ever need to talk email me on MedHelp!

Thank you ladies for your words of encouragement and advice.  We will try again later in the year.  We are waiting to see what the genetics say as the reason for this m/c.  I want to be sure that there is nothing wrong with me before we try again.  I am praying and I know that God has a plan for everyone.  I pray there is another child in my near future. I will keep you ladies posted and please keep me posted on your results.  Thank you again for giving me some hope.

I am in the same boat- I have 2 beautiful children and have also had 2 m/c's in a row. We are currently ttc again and its terrifying. My dr says until I have 3 they do believe it is just a fluke. The only real advice to give it to keep trying and praying to god =) hand in there sweetie and I am so sorry to hear about your losses
