Did I Miscarry?

I am 39yrs old.  I'm 8 weeks pregnant.  I had an u/s today and the doctor said that she is concerned.  She can see the baby and fluttering (heart beat) but she says that the size is only at about 6 weeks. I have had lower cramping, but still have signs that I'm pregnant... very swollen breasts, nauseated every day, tired, etc.  I have had 2 other miscarriages years ago.  I had the lower cramping but not the signs of being pregnant.  My doctor seemed real concerned and I'm worried that I have miscarried.  They drew blood, don't know results yet.  They have rescheduled me to go back for another u/s in 2 weeks but told me that if I start bleeding to call and come in before then.  They were supposed to go over the process of the pregnancy but stopped short after the u/s.  I am scared and I am so impatient, how can I go 2 weeks without knowing?!?!  Does anyone have any insight on this???

I had a somewhat similar situation.  I only had few pg symptoms, but felt something wasn't right.  I moved my u/s up a week.  They found a heartbeat, but said I was measuring small.  At that point they gave me a 50/50 of m/c.  We scheduled another u/s for a week later and at that point I was given the sad news, no heartbeat.  That was a Thursday and started bleeding and cramping Friday and m/c Monday.  I was told that my gestational sac measured small at the first u/s, so I did a lot of research.  I even called the dr's office to get my measurements as % of m/c based upon sac vs fetus.  I don't want to scare you, especially since in my searches I found many more good outcomes of succesful pg then I did m/c.

I sympathize with the wait you are going through.  You are supposed to be trying to relax, but how can you with all the questions running through your mind.  I'm sure that what the other person said above about the dr making you wait, is to make sure that they can measure the growth.  You may have to wait for the u/s, but shouldn't take more then a day for the blood work.  It can't hurt to ask to have your HCG levels checked regularly so that you have a better idea of what is going on.  They checked mine after the m/c and then two weeks later to make sure they went back to 0.

Keep strong, you will be in my prayers.

I just went through the exact same thing, as far as the waiting goes. I went 2 weeks ago for an u/s and I was suppose to be 8 weeks. The doc said I was measuring small and rescheduled me for 2 weeks after for another u/s. However we did not see a heartbeat with mine. The doc said it was early though and that was possibly why the heartbeat couldn't be detected. Anyway, I went crazy for 2 weeks, not knowing. I called another local doctor office to see if they would bring me in for an u/s (for a second opinion). But they explained to me that the reason they wait two weeks is to see if the baby has grown at all and if they did another u/s any sooner, it wouldn't make enough of a difference for them to know. So I had to wait and had a bad feeling all along. My breasts started to get less swollen and I had a renewed sense of energy. I went last Wednesday for the follow up u/s and got the bad news that they baby had not grown at all and there was still no heartbeat. It stopped developing at 6 1/2 weeks. So I had to have a D&E on Friday. It was very difficult and I hope more than anything that is not what you will experience.
My advice is for now, try to keep your mind occupied. You ARE still pregnant. And there is a litttle heartbeat inside you. So love your baby with all your heart until you go back for your followup.
The other thing you can try is to call your doctor and request that they monitor your HCG levels every other day to see if they are doubling.
Best wishes and if you need to chat, please feel free. My heart is with you.

Two weeks to wait!  No way it should take that long.  I had to wait 3 days...and they said that was long!!

It shouldn't take them 2 weeks to let you know the results of your blood test. Most doctors who are concerned that there may be something wrong, rush those tests. I would call. Otherwise be patient. You may have ovulated later that you thought, and may actually be only 6 weeks pregnant. Dont worry just yet. Take care of yourself...
