What was this?

I had pregnancy tests done Dec. 27th, Jan. 6th, Jan. 7th (the last one was by incidence by a second doctor) and ALL were negative. Ok so yesterday I started my period (which was late by a week). It was awful! Cramps were so painful in my uterus area and my thighs and legs and back! I took some Motrin and it helped. Today I went to class as usual and had pads for my bleeding. Well, on my way home I started to cramp again. So I went to use the restroom and after urinating I sat there a while and just let the clots pass into the toilet instead of my pad. I passed alot of clots and they were neither large or small. So I proceeded to get up but then I noticed something small and white in the toilet. It wasn't feces because I used a small probe to pick it out on the brim of the toilet and it was grayish clay colored and very hard and if you put your fingers over your eye to make the shape of your eye then that is the size and shape it was but I did not feel it pass! I stupidly flushed it down the toilet because I thought nothing of it but then I asked my friend and sisters and they said I had a miscarriage. I said that's stupid to think because I have had pregnancy tests and all were negative. The last time I had sex was Dec. 6th so if I were pregnant at least one of those tests would have read positive. So I don't know what to think about this and what else could it be besides a miscarriage because I never was pregnant! I know I should go to the doctor and have already made arrangements to do so but I just wanted to know if anyone has ever experienced anything similar and what they think could be going on.

I do not have any prior history of anything.
Im sorry I did not make myself clear.....the pregnancy tests that were done WERE ALL DONE AT THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE. The first two were done before I got my pap smear....one was done as primary routine for anyone receiving birth control pills and the other one was done by request because after the initial visit I felt sick.

This is confusing.  If it was an actual miscarriage, you would not have been far enough a long to have clots or fetal tissue.  It's true that a Dr's urine pregnancy test may not always pick up an early pregnancy.  Many Dr.'s use tests less sensitive then a home test. However, if you had had a very early miscarriage taking place prior to the urine test picking up the pregnancy hormone (HCG), you really wouldn't have had more then just heavy period like bleeding.  I have had 3 of them (called chemical pregnancies) and if I didn't know better, I would have thought a late and very heavy period.  I am wondering if you didn't have a kidney stone?  I think you are wise to discuss this with your Dr.  I really don't think this sounds like a miscarriage.  Good luck.
