I feel more comfortable with a male Doc and I know this might sound weird but bc they dont really know what you are going through they have to tell you everything straight and not sugar coat the possibilities. They are gentle too bc they know but dont understand what we are going through. That is my honest answer ^^ hope it helps
Seeing how I didn't full answer the question...I felt more comfortable with a male. I guess because I was so young when I had to start going to the doctor. I have seen two different woman and I felt okay but it seemed like the male seemed more concerned with what I was saying.
I have had a male doctor since I was 15 (I had several cyst that had to make me be seen). I felt weird at first but now that doctor doesn't deliver, so I was forced to change. I went to another doctor who was a man. His partner was a female. I was comfortable with both of them. Now that I have had to change doctors again I have another male doctor.
I had two female ob-gyns in a row after having had a male, and my RE is male. It depends entirely on the individual doctor -- getting a pelvic exam is the least of the concerns, you just want someone smart that you can talk to and doesn't brush you off. Those qualities are not the exclusive province of either gender. The dumbest, panickeyest and rudest doctors in the practice (who I saw exactly twice each) were a married couple.
During my pregnancy I mostly saw females, but there were males too sometimes. Gender never made a differance to me, as long as they could do the job.
I have a male doctor which under normal circumstances would be a big NO NO I don't even like to go to female doctors I have issues but the reason why I chose this doctor is because I use to work for him and I know his work ethics I know he will always tell me truth not beat around the bush with it but he will also do it with kindness
