hi liz .. I had a shot of anti d when I miscarried recently .. I think it's called rogam too .. I have rhesus negative blood and my husband has positive .. this made it likely that the baby had positive too as it's the dominant type.
If you don't have the shot and your blood mixes with the baby's (happens sometimes at mc), your body can build up antibodies to the positive blood as it will see it as an invader. the worry with this happening is that if you get pregnant again, and the baby's blood type is positive, if you have those antibodies from your 1st pregnancy there, your body can attack the blood cells of the baby .. this can cause severe anaemia for the bub and they need to get blood transfusions in the womb .. they usually have to be pre term as their health is jeapordised. it can even cause mc!
If your pregnancy had continued, you would have had to have had this shot at 28 weeks and then again after the baby was born .. it's good that you've had it as you can rest assured that your body won't be harming the baby when you get pregnant again.
all that said .. I am so sorry for your loss .. I didn't want to come over so clinical but it's good to have all the facts. .. I really hope that I'm reading on here soon that you are pregnant again .. good luck!!
