TTC after early miscarriage

Hi everyone! I  am 36 years old and I miscarried twins on Nov 5th at 9 weeks. I have done a lot of research on how soon you can start trying to concieve after an early miscarrage. As of Aug 2010 a lot of sites are saying the sooner the better versus waiting several months, especially if you are over the age of 35. Just looking for personal experience to help guide me. I appreciate everyone's helps!!

I took a pregnancy test last night and it still shows pregnant. It just makes me sad all over again. Most of my pregnancy symptoms are gone except the exhaustion. I still want to go to sleep around 7:30-8:00 every night.  My post -op from the DNC is this Thursday, I will definitely discuss with my doctor & get my HCG level measured. Thanks ladies! It is nice to know/chat with someone who is going through this as well.

Hi, I miscarried last month (18th) at 6 weeks. It was natural, so I started TTC soon after I stopped bleeding which was about 5 days. I counted it as a period, so therefor I was due to ovulate on the 31st-1st. I had A LOT of CM. 5 days after I ovulated I took a HPT and it was negative. So I knew that I had no, or low HCG. I got my BFP a day after AF was due. I wish you all the best.

If you had a natural miscarriage, they suggest you can start right away.  THey sometimes say to wait for 1 cycle for dating purposes..  But alot of people dont.

You are more fertile at this time so the sooner the better.  As you said, studies have found that women have better pregnancy outcomes without waiting.  There is a lady on the forums who got pregnant the same week as her miscarriage and is now into week 30 with this baby.

Just make sure before you start trying that your HCG returns to 0...  You can do this by getting monitored by your doctor or with Home pregnancy tests.. but make sure you get that negative home pregnancy test first, so there is no confusion around if it  is a new pregnancy or left over hormones.  Some people test negative within a couple days, other people a week, and some people take a couple weeks.  You will not ovulate until your HCG is 5 or below so if it takes two weeks for it to get to that level, you shouldnt have to worry about missing ovulation.  The time it takes all depends on how high it was to start and if there is any retained products, etc.

I didnt have a natural miscarriage but it took about 1 week and a couple days for mine to return to 0.. With that said, depending on the sensitivity of your pregnancy tests, (25, 50, 100 UI/ML) you might test negative well before its below 5  (but you wont ovulate until after its 5 or below), but the negative pregnancy test at least shows you that your next positive is new.
