This is a rather confusing one

I had my last period around 7/09/10 and come 8/15/10 starting feeling "pregnant" even though I ever never experienced a preganancy before...I just knew. I took a pregnancy test in the evening and it came back negative. 2 days later I took one first thing in the morning and it came back positive. Literally 3 days later my symtoms seemed to virtually subside and disappear and I went to the doctors office and had a blood test and a urine test.

Urine test was negative, blood test was positive.

Two days later and I start bleeding. I go in for an ultrasound today (a day after beginning bleeding) and they found absolutely nothing in my uterus. The doctor says I had to have miscarried but if that's the case why was nothing found in my uterus and why was my cervix not open?

I'm so confused. I'm only 26 and very healthy...will I continue to have miscarriages? Will I be able to have baby's easily in the future?

I also "feel pregnant" a few days before I get a positive hpt. What you describe is the classic signs of a chemical pregnancy (I've experienced two of these so far). Most likely the embryo had lethal chromosomal defects; there's nothing you did to cause this or anything you could have done to prevent it. You still have an excellent chance of conceiving a healthy baby next time.

If you continue to have chemical pregnancies or miscarriages, then you'll want to get checked out by a reproductive endocrinologist.

Best of luck to you!

I was going to say the exact same thing as aowens, sounds like a chemical pregnancy to me as well. statistics say 50-60% percent of all first pregnancies end in an early miscarriage so try not to be discouraged. babyhopes.com is a good place for information

Hey there, It sounds like your doctor is most likely right, im sorry, it sounds like you have had an early miscarriage. The cervix doesn't have to be open, at this early stage the pregnancy is still small enough, that some will be re absorbed into your body and the rest presents itself as the bleeding you have been experiencing. I am not a doctor, but this is what it sounds like from the dates you have given you should have been about 6 weeks and they should have been able to see gestational sac and even the fetal pole on the scan by this stage. Because you have a miscarriage, there is nothing to suggest that you will have them again, and there is no reason you shouldn't be able to have babies in your future. However, I suggest the next time you find out you are pregnant, you see your doctor early and get your progesterone checked, a low level of this can cause miscarriage and they can give you tablets and shots to try and remedy the problem. good luck to you for the future and i hope this was a little helpful to you :)
