No heartbeat at 6 weeks/lost soreness of breasts

Hi
First pregnancy - A couple of days ago i noticed a light brown tinge spotting and the soreness of my breasts has reduced.  I attended my GP today in which i was ultrasound internally and externally for an ectopic pregnancy.  The result confirmed it was not an ectopic pregnancy, however, i was advised that there was no heart beat.  My hcg results are reading at 12,000 and i will be retesting again on Monday, and a further u/s in a weeks time to see if a heart beat can be seen.  Has anyone ever experienced this?  I have been told to expect a miscarriage.

Hi
Good news recieved today.  After getting not much sleep last night, I had my scan this morning and it showed a heart beat (external scan only).  YAY...  I could see the pole, yolk etc etc and a little heat beat.  It showed that i conceived late and that i am only 6 weeks and 3 days. Thanks to everyone for their comments.  I will keep you updated with further developments.

The fact that your hcg levels have increased by more than double is a good sign, if you were in the process of miscarrying your levels would be dropping not increasing.  It is rare to see a heartbeat as early as 6 weeks and also you could have been slightly less than 6 weeks.  The fetus grows at such a fast rate in the early stages that there will be a marked difference in the size of the sac etc and all being well you should be able to see a heartbeat when you go on Thurs.  I shall keep my fingers crossed for you xx

Hi
I received by hcg results today and they are 38,000 which is apparently a good sign.  I have not had anymore spotting and have my scan on Thursday morning to check for a heartbeat.  On Thursday they are saying i will be 7 weeks.  Any thoughts?

I dont think your doctor would have told you to expect a m/c if there wasnt clues as to why. Maybe there was something he did not tell you. I agree with the last post that you cannot even detect a heartbeat until 7 weeks but I would go along with what your doctor said and prepare for the worst. I hope thats not the case but it would only cause more heartbreak in the future by getting your hopes up. Good luck to you and keep us updated with your results Monday.

Spotting in early pregnancy can be normal/common due to hormonal changes - bright red bleeding is what to be concerned about. Breast soreness can come and go - some women experience very little to no breast soreness. A heartbeat can often not be found until 8-10 weeks, so not finding a heartbeat at 6 weeks is okay.  Your hcg level looks great.  I'm curious as to who told you to expect miscarriage as none of the signs you have described denote an impending miscarriage.  Try to relax (I know it's difficult) and see how your future doctor visits go.

I'm sorry and I hope that you don't m/c. Wait for the next HCG and you should get a more definitive answer then. Good luck :-)
