D&C: spotting but no periods yet?

Hello: I had a D&C on Oct 14 (6 weeks ago to the day) at 11 weeks. Tuesday I had a bit of blood (very little) then a little bit of brown spotting Tuesday, Wed,, Thursday then nothing at all today. That can't be a period... so what's going on??

I took a pregnancy test today: negative = HCG levels can't be very high now. So why are my periods not coming back and why did I have this weird spotting?

I have had 2 medical miscarriages in the past, one of them being a D&C, and my periods always came back after 4 weeks and normally.

Update: definitively ovulating today, very strong pains on my good ovary lol! This ultra light spotting was a period after all. Probably because I bled so much after the D&C, 2 full weeks, I had nothing left inside to shed...

Yes Stacey: at our age we can't afford to loose time, better try now! Good luck to you too!!

Thanks ladies... I think I am ovulating right now!! It is J15 after these 3 days of extremely light spotting. How is that possible? So confused!

Stacey: I have heard about DHEA making better eggs, nothing to loose! I was very low in DHEA-s 2 years ago, was about to try a supplement... but then I got pregnant with my boy.

Have your doctor give you progesterone to jump start your system.  It may just be your hormones out of wack.

have you looked into taking dhea? I have just been to see a specialist and he seemed quite confident that after being on dhea for 3 months I should get that last good egg, something to think about as I will have to stop breastfeeding before I try the stuff

I don't know, for my last D&C my HCG level was very high at 300,000 (twins) when I had the D&C and I got my periods back after 4 weeks.

So very frustrating, it has been 7 weeks! Going to insist Monday that Ob-Gyn sees me ASAP.

well I suppose she could be right maybe the age thing has abit to do with it, but I still think that because you were so far along and your levels would have been pretty high that they are just taking there time in going down, yes its extremely frustrating when the body does its own thing and your damn mind thinks otherwise... I think I should still be able to get preggers forever ha! but my body is doing something quite on its own!! grrr

She specifically told me it was my age. I had an other D&C at 40, periods came back after 4 weeks, I mentioned that to her, she said it was 3 years ago and I am older now... She said to wait one ore 2 weeks before going to her office!

Both D&C were fairly similar: 1st one I was carrying twins, they were 7 and 8 weeks when the heartbeats stopped, this one 1 baby and she was 11 weeks when the heartbeat stopped.

Really fed up, we'd like to TTC a few more months and how am I going to TTC without my periods coming back? It will be 7 weeks on Friday since I had the D&C!

Hmm well I also think they take longer to return after you have had a d&c as well verses a natural miscarriage, when I had a natural one my cycle returned quicker than when I had a d&c as well, I've just had another natural one so I'm hoping I get back to normal as quick as possible although my hcg levels arnt back under 5 yet

HCG is at 0. And no still no periods. They told me that because I am older (I just turned 43), it can take longer now. Really? First time I hear that!

All my other 3 miscarriages it took 4 weeks, last miscarriage was 3 years ago, at age 40.

Just get your bloods done first, as you were quite a way along it can sometimes take a while after a d&c for your periods to start back up again, verses haveing a miscarriage at 5 or so weeks, your hcg levels are usually higer when you are as far along as what you were so depending on how fast they drop, would depened on how quickly your period returns, maybe your preggers again,... just

Good luck with the FET, hope it sticks!

No periods, I am now afraid I'll have to take hormones to jump start my system.

Hi Hun,
I miscarried right before you on the 7th of October, I finally got something that resembled AF but honestly it wasn't a "normal"AF but I definitely O'd and had my FET today. I'm sure your body is just not back to "normal" give it some time and I'm sure it will come!
All my love hugs and SSBD,
Mel

No, no periods. Nothing at all now. I am going for an HCG check on Monday and I guess will go from there.

I'm really sorry about your loss.  I think each m/c can be very different.   After my D&C I spotted for a few days right after, but then I had a normal period, I think it was about 6 weeks after.  Sorry I don't have the answer for you.  The brown blood tho makes me think it's old. I wonder if your period is trying to start??
