I have been trying for 3 years to fall pregnant and finally it happened my last period was on the 8th April 10, i carried out four pregnancy tests all where positive, doctor told me at the time i must be about 5 weeks pregnant, i started to lightly bleed red blood and went to the hospital to get checked out they done a scan but could not find anything and also a blood test my hormone level dropped showing i was miscarrying, so they carried out another blood test to double check and my hormone level had risen i had another scan still could not find anything, and another blood test and my hormone level was still rising, i have not had any severe pain just period cramping, but also started to heavy bleed on Tuesday this week and still bleeding, doctors think i have a small ectopic pregancy (also known as an unknown preganacy) as they cannot locate it, i have to go back again next week for another blood test and scan, i must be around about 8 weeks now surley if it is an ectopic i would be in pain by now?, does it still grow? could i now be miscarrying?, will i have issues conceiving after this is over? i just want to get on with my life and put this behind me but it has dragged out for weeks now.
In the beginning, my HCG was rising, but not doubling, and the doctor said that could possibly be a sign of ectopic. I had already had one u/s, but it was too early to see anything yet, so he had me come back in for another u/s at about 5.5 weeks and saw a sac in my uterus. He said it is often very hard to see ectopic pregnancies on an u/s, and so the best thing is to be able to rule it out by seeing an intrauterine pregnancy like mine. So if I were you, I would keep bugging your doctor for another u/s. By now, they should certainly be able to see something in your uterus. If they can't see anything and your numbers are still going up, then it's possible you've got an ectopic, and it's not something to mess around with, and needs to be removed ASAP.
If you're having a normal m/c, in most cases it won't affect your chances of having a baby in the future. If you end up with an ectopic and need a tube or ovary or something removed, it might take a little longer to conceive again, but you usually still can just fine. Try not to worry too much, but make sure your doc gives you answers!
