hcg blood tests

Hi found out i was pregnant at the beginning of oct.  Spotted for two weeks before finally going to doctor on the 13th.  I was negative in their urine test even though i had tested positive an hour before at home.  They did an ultrasound and saw a sac but it didn't look right and paired with the spotting said I was having a threatened miscarriage.  They gave the options of going ahead and having a d/c then or going home to wait it out.  I chose to go home where the spotting turned into the period from hell.  I've stopped bleeding now but like many am still testing positive.  The hcg line on the hpt has noticibally become fainter though. I know i can't be pregnant anymore.  I feel like I was early enough to let my body handle it naturally.  So I really don't want to go through the whole miscarriage hoopla at the docs office, but maybe for some closure id like to see my numbers dropping.  Can you just request the blood tests alone and where?

sorry this has happened.  yes, you can call the doc office and tell them you want the blood test.  A lot of docs suggest doing the labs until your number drops to 0,  I just had a natural mc in Sept and doc said it wasn't necessary bc I had said I didn't want to come back bc it hurt too much to sit in the waiting room with all the preg. women.  I took preg tests and when I got a negative i figured all the hormones were gone.  But definitely, if you'd feel better about getting the labs, call the docs office.  Take care

Call your doctor and tell them you want blood tests done to check your hcg levels. When I miscarried naturally my doctor wanted to monitor my hcg levels until they went back to 0, which took 5 weeks. Sorry for your loss. Hope this helps!!
