miscarriage

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and started loosing small amounts of blood, went for a scan today and was told there was no baby or heart beat found just 3 cystic areas ?? They said I could of had multiple pregnancy that have discontinued or there's a chance it could be a molar pregnancy or just one baby with 2 bleeds !! A consultant decided by looking at my scan result over the phone I had a discontinued pregnancy n booked me in for a surgical evacuation :( is there no possibility they could have this wrong ??

Well had my blood results today n my hormone levels arnt high enough for it to be a molar pregnancy so I'm a little relieved about that. Although still loosing small amounts of blood I'm back at the hospital tomorrow for more bloods and then taking it from there. Thanks for your comments

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and started bleeding at 4 weeks it lasted 5 days and was like a light period, doctors have told me my pregnancy is non viable I have had 3 scans so far all which are non conclusive but I have been offered a d and c I have refused this and am having repeat bloods and scans in a week which is Monday until I am certain myself I will not be pushed into doing anything, and if after the next scan I still have no definate answers then I will refuse again, nit because I don't believe it's happening but for my own piece of mind and to know that I have give the little bean every chance I could have,

Well, misdiagnosis is always possible.  I'm actually a bit surprised that they are making this call at 6 weeks.  Typically they wait a bit longer in case dates are wrong, etc.  A heartbeat is seen between 5 1/2 and 6 1/2 weeks.  So with off dates, or even poor equipment, it can sometimes take a bit longer to see anything.

Remember that there is no need to make any drastic decisions right now.  If you don't want to have a d&c (surgical evacuation) right away, there is absolutely no reason you should.  If you are not comfortable with it, don't have it.  Wait and have a second u/s in a week or two which would give you an absolutely definitive answer.

I'll be honest and tell you that this does in fact sound like a loss, but peace of mind is worth so much. You need to feel like you are making the right decision.  Also, you may decide that your preference is to miscarry naturally.  You do have options here, so do what feels right to you.  All the best to you.

When you go in for the surgical evacuation they will check again with an ultrasound. Usually by 6 week they are able to see a heartbeat or at least a yolk sac
