pain at 17 weeks

My daughter is 17 weeks pregnant adn yesterday (Sunday) she was in terrible pain. It started in her groin and went up and around her back.  Lasted on and off all afternoon.  She then remebered the day before (Saturday) that she went to the toilet and then a few minutes later in the kitchen she had this gushing feeling and was wet all down her legs.  She told me this Sunday and she said it was just like her water breaking, like when she had her first child.  We didn't know much about this and after reading all your stories, it seems this can happen.  She still has pain on and off.  Tonight she found a sticky substance in her pants, no sign of blood, but her undies were stuck to her.  I  made her go the Doctors and he just said this is normal, probably pain cause her body was expanding and maybe she hadn't finished uriunating properly.  He listened to heart beat but said it was very weak but not to worry as bubs was probably sleeping.  He would not give her a referral for an ultrasound as he said she didn't need it????  I am very worried, it all doesn't seem normal and I am scared for her health and of course the bubs.  But I am terrified she may get an infection inside and what would be the outcome?  How dangerous is this if she lets it go as he has said??   Would she just miscarriage in about seven days if it was her waters breaking?  Is she in any danger?  Should she get another opinion?  Sorry I am going on but I don't know about this and I am very worried.  Thanks for any answers, enay.

I would go to another doctor or emergency. When I was 15 weeks. I had a similar situation accept there was no fluid. I went to emergancy and they determined I was trying to go into labor. I was given medication and it stopped. I later delieverde healthy twin girls. She should seek a second opinion.

you need to get a second opinion. if she has dilated at all, this opens the womb to infection. particular one called chorioamnionitis. why didn't she go to the doctor earlier? any time you have bad pains or feel like your water broke you obviously need to be seen by a doctor. i went into labor at 17 weeks, was hospitalized, i developed chorioamnionitis, my son was born and he died 22 minutes later. unfortunately with chorioamnionitis, the baby has to be delivered no matter how far along you are.

i don't understand why she is waiting so long... she should have gone straight to the ER instead of waiting and finally going to the doctor. she is putting her health and the babys life at risk. get her to another doctor and get an ultrasound done, immediately. unfortunately, if her water did break all they can do is keep her in bed at the hospital and try to keep the baby inside as long as possible. Good luck.
