please if you can help advise

I lost what i thought to be just one baby last month but in fact was two... so i lost my twins on dec 4th i was 7 weeks along according to my missed period but from conception i was 5 weeks... my hcg levels went back to normal basically the same day very odd i would think, my body "took care" of the miscarriage naturally i did bleed for a little after everything. The doctor told me that i should get my period within 30 to 35 days and i know i may be jumping the gun but its been 5 weeks and no period!.. the only symptom i did have (sore nipples) is back not as harsh but its there! but that also starts when im to get my period! but also on that note i have never had sore nipples for two weeks straight except when i was pregnant!... I do not want to take a test because i am scared to death and i dont know what to do! i really only started thinking about the fact i should be getting my period today and i was on the road driving 12 hours from pa back to ga so i have to wait til monday to get an appointment... does anyone have any ideas cause im so just plain done with worrying and be afraid im a freak that i cant even keep my own children! What could be so wrong with me!

Hi there.  Not having a period 5 weeks post miscarriage is not uncommon.  I had a D&C in december and have yet to have mine either.  I am also about 5 weeks post now.  I am glad things happened quickly for you, that is good.  But your hormones are still going to be out of whack a bit.  Sometimes we do need a little help getting them back on track.  If your period hasn't shown up in another week, make an app. with your Dr.  They can test to see if you are pregnant again, test to see if there might have been any remaining tissue (unlikely seeings how your beta level returned to 0) and if necessary give you medication to get things started again.   But a miscarriage can throw your cycle off for a bit, so I don't think there is anything to worry about.  Take care.
