pregnancy/miscarriages

Hello all!
I'm writing her today to get some type of answers because I'm so confused and lost.
First of I had a miscarriage on march 21st, 2010. Here's the tricky part. I've been bleeding ever since the miscarriage .
Right now I'm bleeding lightly with no cramping. Now on april 21st I had an gyn appt.
Everything with the check up seem to be fine the doctor didn't tell me to take a pregancy
Test nor he did an u/s. He then wanted me to go to the lab and do some blood work. I finally did the blood work and 3hrs llater he called me back and told me that my blood is fine its just that the blood for the prgnancy hormones is sky high, so he insist that I do a d&c but than when I came home I took to prenancy test and both test was positive. Could there be a possibility that I could be prego again? I also asked the doctor could he make sure that I'm not prego before he go and do the d&c he told that no it wouldn't make no sense to do an u/s because I'm not prego and its probably scare tissue that never came out from the lats miscarrige....my whole thing is this if I had the miscarriage last month and my pregnancyhormone levels was reallt low how could it shoot back up so high within a month ...... I just. Seems so weird and confusing ......and I'm not letting this doctor do no d&c to me unless he confirms that I'm prego or not......I mean what u think?

I'm very sorry about your loss it's is very hard. I absolutely agree with you. I would get a second opinion because this doc seems too unhelpful(to say the least) Ok now I have a few questions. During this time you've been bleeding has their been any clots? And do you know the dates of your hCG level checks if so could you post them? Usually once your hCG starts dropping they don't rise again unless you are pregnant again. Ok so I found this piece of info on the net maybe it will help.

***hCG levels only rise in the event of a embryo in the first trimester still growing in the uterus or after taking medications that contain hCG. Otherwise after a miscarriage the levels should drop steadily and return to a non-pregnant range within about 4 to 6 weeks depending how far into the pregnancy the loss occurred. ***

So either you got pregnant again or you were having twins and lost one. Otherwise I don't thinks it's possible for them to rise once they've decreased. But I could be wrong. I would definitely not let them push you into a D&C(they're pretty pushy with those now a days) Let me know what happens. You're in my prayers.

I agree with faith, the doctors are not helpful. Three weeks ago I was 6 weeks pregnant I started bleeding and went to the ER. The doctore did an U/S and said there was nothing their that I had a miscarriage. They wanted me to sign papers giving them permission to do a D&C. Something did not feel right so I said I wanted a second opinion the next day. The next day another doctor did an ultrasound and the baby was there and their was a heartbeat...I could have killed that doctor!!!!
The next day I went to a private gyae just to be sure and he confirmed that the baby was fine and that there was a strong heartbeat. I was still bleeding but he assured me that when there is a heartbeat all should be ok.
The very next day I was bleeding tissue and clots. When I went to the bathroom I saw my baby in the toilet :-( It was the most devasting experience!!!

DO NOT TRUST DOCTORS......go with your female intuition and always ask for a second or even a third opinion if you have to. If it does not feel right dont let the doctors bully you into anythng.....

Hi thanks for the update. Ok so you're still waiting for todays results right? So if they rise then I would have to say its a new pregnancy. Ya I've had docs who never give me answers to your questions, but that's good that they're doing hCG checks. Now you'll know for certain if you're pregnant again! Let me know the results.

Hey!
Just writing you to give you an update. I went to the doctor to draw blood on Tuesday. Just came back from the doctor today and they took more blood from me and they told me that the hcg level from Tuesday was a 75... I don't know I'm so confused, because every doctor I've been to is not telling me anything.

Thanks nessa. Ok I think you should get a second opinion or you could just go to another doc and tell them you think your preggo again and you want to make sure its a new pregnancy. If they ask you a lot about your miscarriage then play dumb and just say they followed your numbers down to 15 and that they said they don't have to check it anymore. Or you can just go to the ER and tell them that your pregnant and that you're cramping and worried they'll probably do and hCG count and ultrasound. Then you will know for sure if it's new or just hormone from your last pregnancy. From my experience the doctors I have contacted in the past about my concerns were biased jerks, and I now realize I should've just played dumb and said nothing about my miscarriage. As soon as they hear that they treat me like I'm crazy. Let me know how it goes. I'll be praying for you.

They determine it by the hcg levels and ultra sound. I just want everything to be fine because my son who is 5yrs old is asking me for a baby sister or brother. My fiance is ready to have a child so we're just hoping for the best.

Ok I was bleeding with no clotting as of today it seems like the bleeding is coming to an end because its really light and dark. I found out that I was pregnant on the 15th of march. Than on the 17th I started bleeding. After that the bleeding was coming down like I was getting my period, so I went to the er that following day. When I was at the hosp they told me that my hcg levels was really low so they wanted to monitor me to see if the hcg level would rise or go lower but eventually I didn't stay and the levels was going down that's when I went back to my regular doctor and he told me that it didn't look good , so I guess I was just waiting for everything to happen which it did that following Sunday on march 21st........and yes I'm talking about my last pregnancy in march

Ok let me see if I got this right:
-miscarriage march 21st
-hCG level about 15 on March 21st(from what u remember)
-still bleeding & doc said D&C u said no
-now doc says ur hCG level is sky high
and when you say this" When i found out i was pregnant i went to the doctor the following day and the doctor told me that it was to early to determine how far along i was, so i was really early. " your meaning with ur previous pregnancy right? Sorry just wanna get on the same page. When did you find out you were pregnant? March 20th? How did they determine you were having a miscarriage? By ultrasound?

First of i would like to say thank you so much for responding.
The last time i did blood work to check my hcg was on the 21st of march and it was  really low. If i could remember the numbers was 15 if im not mistaken. When i found out i was pregnant i went to the doctor the following day and the doctor told me that it was to early to determine how far along i was, so i was really early.
If you have anymore advice please feel free to write me back. Once again thank u so much!!! i will definitely follow up.

i agree with faith.  If your hcg levels had been dropping with your miscarriage then they wouldn't start rising again.  You are quite right to refuse a D&C until an ultrasound has been performed to confirm what is going on.

I am really sorry for your loss.
