pregnant?

We had a miscarriage on September 29,2010. We were 5 and 1/2 weeks along and it was a blighted ovum. The doctor had told us to wait 2 cycles before trying again. Well we haven't, as a matter of fact I haven't had 1 cycle yet. Is this normal? Or could we be pregnant?

Hi, I miscarried on 29th August 2010 and have just last week found out Im pregnant again, with no period in between. I am circa 6 weeks, not sure exactly as I have no period to date to. It is completeley possible to pregnant immediately after misscarriage and it is actually my view that it is much easier to catch on at this time. My usual ttc is 10 months at a time so I wa svery pleasantly suprised to say the least.
Doctors may tell you to wait one or two cycles before ttc but this is only so that they can date you more accurately, do not be confused that this makes the risk of miscarrying again higher because it doesnt.
Good Luck xxxx

Just wanted to let you know that I took a home pregnancy test this morning and came up negative. I was tested to a 2 and didn't bleed long, so I think that we are in the clear and are going to wait a few months. Thank you all for the support and information!

My old OB wanted me to wait 3 cycles after my 1st MC in July (i was 3 1/2 weeks). We waited 1 & got pg but I MC at 7 weeks this time. I have a new OB & he said as soon as my #s hit 0 we could start trying again. But then he said that we should wait 1 cycle so they could run some tests to see why I'm miscarrying. Hope this helps.

I suppose either is possible.  You could be preg. I had a m/c around the first week of Sept and I jsut now finished my first period after that mc.  so sometimes it can take a while.  good luck!!

It is possible to be pregnant. But if you had the MC on September 29, 2010, it is normal for your cycle to not return yet.  It can take 4-8 weeks depending how quickly your HCG levels returned to 5 or less.

I had mine August 23.  and my cycle did not return until October 6th.  That was 6 weeks.  My HCG levels did not drop completely until at least 1 and a half weeks after.

With that said, I was not TTC and was using protection.  Since you have not been, it is highly plausible that you are pregnant.  especially only being 5 and 1/2 weeks, you HCG may not have been very high at all and could have returned within a couple days.

Some doctors say that it can increase your risk of miscarriage again but I think it is for their own agenda.  Sometimes if you have had a couple miscarriages in a row, you should wait.  But waiting for a cycle helps them with dating and they also want to make sure you are emotionally ready to handle another pregnancy and possible miscarriage.

Blighted ovums are very common.. 25% of first pregnancies end that way
