When to go to the hospital

I am sure I am having a miscarriage, but it is taking forever.  This has been a painful pregnancy from the start (beg of Sept) where I had side cramping for four weeks.  Then Sept 25 they stopped.  On last weekend the pain came back, except in lower front, mild cramping and spotting and clotting.  On Monday I was bleeding brown with clots and cramps were much worse (like first day period cramps).  Had ultrasound and saw baby and hb.  Doc said there was still hope.  Here it is Wednesday, the pain gets worse every day.  Doc called in script for Darvocet, but it is not working all the time.  Like right now, I have to hold my breath.  It is not the worst pain I have ever felt, but when the pain is bad and lasts ALL DAY, it gets hard to deal with.  Should a miscarriage really last this long?  I read so many people who have hours of pain, but days of constant pain?  Is this for real?  I just want the pain to stop!  Please advise me...do I tough it out a few more days or go to the hospital today (also, the pain does seem less at night for some reason...)

My stomach pain came from a UTI. ER doc said sometimes when you're pg & get UTI you'll get very bad pain. Thought it was my appendicitis. Hurt to breathe, hurt to move, hurt to cough, laugh, just amputation killed me to sneeze. Thats how I found out I was pg they wanted to do tests but had to make sure I wasn't pg 1st & viola I was. I was only 2 1/2 weeks tho & I was spotting. (I did end up miscarrying tho later.)

I hope I am not just a big wimp with the pain.  I have been off work resting, but I can not imagine going to work with these cramps, especially when the more I move around, the worse they get.  I will go get checked tomorrow.  I will have been out 4 days, and really do not want to miss more work... Thank you for all your input. I feel like I am whining here... but your advice is appreciated, please keep it coming:)

When I m/c'd I bled for 12 days. I had pain, but it wasn't as bad as what you are describing. I never went to the doctor or hospital just called my doctor's office and had to get bloodwork done to montior my hcg level. If your pain is that bad, you should probably go to the emergency room. Sorry you are going through this.  :(

My doc is out today, but Darv is the strongest thing I can take that doesn't make me sick.  Believe me, if there was something, I would ask.  My daughter was c-section, and I had to recover on Tylonol and Dav... It really sucked.   I passed a large clot earlier that was very dry, that may have been something.  There was a little hard thing in it, but looked to small to be a 6 week baby (smaller than a dried up pea).  I think I will call doc or go to hospital tomorrow.  Of course now that it is evening, and I rested for several hours, the pain has lessoned and is managable for right now.  However, sitting up in my chair right now I can feel pain returning.  This is the most messed up thing that I could imagine.  I can't believe I am jealous of woman who miscarry "normally."  Is my body just fighting in that bad or what?

if the pain meds are not helping you that much I would go to the hospital or at least call your doctor and have them give you something else

they may also want to check to make sure that if you are having a miscarriage that all the tissue is getting passed like it should

i would go straight to emergancy room, just to be safe. if you are miscarrying the doctors may need to check you over. let us know how you get on. good luck xo
