Girlfriend miscarrying or not?

Hi all

Not sure where to start. My girlfriend and i have done 2 pregnancy tests both of which came back positive since the end of August. Then last week she was coming around to her period and she bled extremely heavily. Did another test afterwards and it came back positive and after what i gather was light spotting we assumed she had miscarried. We then did another test a couple days ago and it came back positive again (4 in total)! She went to the doctors and she told her she wasn't pregnant and it was probably her hormons but if she's still feeling bad (see below) to go back in a weeks time.

She is having seriously bad cramps and pains in her pelvic region, feels extremely naucious (usually when she's hungry), tired all the time and stomach looks a little bloated. I am very concerned as both want a baby but everything is pointing to her being pregnant but with the extremely bad pains and cramps i dont want to risk anything. Do you think she has miscarried or is there anything i should do like take her to hospital and get somebody there to check her over now?

Hey,

Little update.

Scan showed one little one at just over 7 weeks! Going back in a couple weeks for another scan to make sure there isn't another one. (I didn't get the techinical term as i was rather overcome after being told by her doctor she 'didnt have a viable pregnancy'!) I think it was something to do with having an eptopic pregnancy or outside the uteris?

Thanks for the replies, i will keep people posted as it's early stages.

Hi all,

Sorry i've not had a chance to get back to you all. Thank you all for your replies.

I took my girlfriend to the hospital on Saturday and they did blood test, urine test and the like and confirmed that she was pregnant. They said that the hormon levels are so high it's either she's much further on in the pregnancy that originally thought or she's in the early stages with...twins! Yikes...

We have arranged today to go back to the hospital and they are going to do an ultrasound! So nervous, but she's still in pain and is now constantly feeling sick. She is obviously thinking the worst case all the time (baby there but no heartbeat, ectopic etc etc). The doctor did say though that if it was an ectopic pregnancy she would be in much worse pain she thinks when you touch her and that doesn't seem the case.

Thanks for all the replies.

i would suggest taking a home pregnancy test. have you missed your period? if the test is negative and your period doesn't come i would see a doctor. Stomach pains that are so strong that you can't stand up sounds much worse than a miscarriage (especially an early one.) The white creamy discharge sounds like a yeast infection. Either way, make an appointment!

you need to take her to a new doctor or the hospital to get another blood test done. false positives are not common. if the pregnancy test is picking up the HCG hormone she is or was pregnant. is it possible to miscarry and still get a positive test because it will be positive until the hormone is completely out of her system. a friend of mine got positive tests at home, had 2 done at the hospital and they were negative. she went to another hospital and the test they did was positive, she did miscarry a week later. everyone is different though but you need to get another test done as soon as possible.
