Hi Doni
Never mentioned the hip/groin pain that I have also experienced - to the extent that I have used a walking stick (on 3 occasions throughout 2006) in either hip, lasting 3-5 days - luckily this has subsided, but I also have a constant 'clicking' sound in my lower back/spine, which is pretty uncomfortable (not painful) - perhaps I am becoming double jointed, just don't want my top half of my body to fall off the bottom half! Therefore I went for a bone density scan as I thought maybe I was being plagued by osteoporosis, but this came back that I have excellent bone density! I will let you both know as I pursue other avenues, perhaps a physotherapist.
Take care both of you.

Hi, I haven't been dx, but yes I have severe pain at times. I have been having symptoms for many years. Pain first started in one hip, felt like you said...bone pain. Happened on and off for the whole year and at times my hip would just give out. Next was the other hip, then my right elbow, then one knee and eventually the other knee. Knees also would just give way when I walked. These symtoms improved and only came back sporatically.
About 3 months ago I started to have pain (at least a 10) that started in the bone on the front of both knees and spread down my shin to my ankles. It has been horrible! It comes and goes, lasts a week or so and goes away. Started again yesterday and the pain is up to about a 4 this morning. Like IDA, this pain makes my legs even weaker than normal (normal for me isn't great).
I really don't know what my dx will be, but thought you should know you are not the only one having this problem.
Take care and hope the pain lessens for you.

Hi,
I am not sure if you are still having the bone pain - I have been having on and off leg/muscle/bone pain for almost 2 years now. Very difficult to explain when it occurs, almost like an inflammation of some sort deep inside the femur bones. Is your pain restricted to the whole leg or only thigh or calf area and is it in both legs? I had a bladder infection (UTI) 2 yrs back, which brought on this pain, but one would think with the so called burst appendix and toxic poisoning I went through in 2006 and all the antibiotics and pain meds, this leg pain would have subsided, but it seems to be even more prominent now than ever.
I have recently seen a neurologist that did an ECG and has diagnosed me with depression, however he also ruled out muscular dystrophy (by just looking at me, as there is no muscular atrophy?) and bone and blood cancer (by way of various blood tests that all came back clear?). I have been on the 3 months course of anti-depressants he prescribed and although they made me feel less worrisome that something is eating at my bones they never removed the leg/bone pain? I then went to see my GP who suggested that I see an optomatrist for my blurry vision and watery eyes (which I have done and the results - astimatism in my right eye - yet perfect vision) and a speech therapist for my slight slur in speech? I would be interested to hear your outcome, where your leg pain is situated and if you have seen a specialist regarding the pain.
At least my GP prescribed me anti-inflammatories (prexige) for the leg pain which helps me through each day. Come to think of it - to really decribe the pain, it is almost as though my legs have an incredible weakness/lameness - if going lame can be associated with pain.
Take care
